As expected Bellator's next "Summer Series" of events kicks off June 22 with Bellator 71.

As ( first reported on Monday, the event takes place at Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack and Resort in Chester, W.V.

Bellator officials since have confirmed the event and the start of an eight-man light-heavyweight tournament. The announced participants have a combined record of 154-29-1.

The matchups, which will air on the night's MTV2-televised main card (following prelims on, include Roger Hollett (13-3 MMA, 1-0 BFC) vs. Attila Vegh (24-4 MMA, 0-0 BFC), Rich Hale (18-4-1 MMA, 3-1 BFC) vs. Beau Tribolet (7-1 MMA, 0-0 BFC), Marcus Vanttinen (21-3 MMA, 0-0 BFC) vs. Philipe Lins (5-0 MMA, 0-0 BFC), and Travis Wiuff (66-14 MMA, 2-0 BFC) vs. an opponent to be announced.

Hollett recently made his promotional debut and scored a close split-decision victory over John Hawk at Bellator 57. It marked the Canadian's fifth straight win. He now takes on Vegh, a well-rounded Slovakian fighter who enters Bellator on the strength of a 6-1-1 run. Nineteen of his 24 career wins have come via stoppage (nine knockouts and 10 submissions).

Hale, meanwhile, was a season-four light-heavyweight-tournament runner-up to Christian M'Pumbu back in 2011. It remains the Arizona-based fighter's only loss in his past six fights, which included an opening-round victory over Nik Fekete via inverted-triangle choke. He takes on Tribolet, a Rage in the Cage and Superior Cage Combat vet who's won seven straight fights since an unsuccessful pro debut in 2008. All of his wins have come via stoppage, including his August TKO of former UFC fighter Chase Gormley.

Vanttinen, an experienced Finnish submission specialist, makes his Bellator debut after experience with organizations such as Fight Festival and M-1. He looks for his 13th win in 14 fights when he meets Lins, a Brazilian striker who's fought sporadically since his 2005 pro debut. Although 5-0 with four stoppage victories, he's fought just once in the past five-and-a-half years.

Wiuff, meanwhile, is a big-show vet who made a bit of Bellator history after he defeated reigning champion M'Pumbu in a non-title fight in late 2011. Wiuff returned this past month at Bellator 60, where he scored a unanimous-decision victory over Anthony Gomez. He's now 11-1 since mid-2009.

On their website they listed the quarters as

Attila Vegh (25-4) vs. Zelg Galesic (10-6)
Richard Hale (18-4) vs. Beau Tribolet (7-1)
Roger Hollett (13-3) vs. Philipe Lins (5-0)
Travis Wiuff (66-14) vs. Chris Davis (10-3)

But they've since taken the Hollett-Lins fight down and replaced it with TBA v TBA.

Seems like they can't make their mind up whats going on!

Never heard of Asplund which leads me to believe Rogers will beat him like they are married. I was hoping for a legit HW for his debut or at least legitish.

For a heavyweight, even if the competition has been poor (which it has), 15-1 with 12 finishes is still a decent record.

Not saying i favour him to win, but i think its a better fight that someone like Jimy Ambriz or Ricco Rodriguez.

Looks like some good upcoming fights between the various up and comers and veterans. As for Brett Rogers this will prove something. Either he will be back on a roll or he's going to fall.

All times are GMT -4. The time now is 12:05 PM.
