Bellator FC Bellator MMA (Bellator) is the 2nd largest mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion in the USA and the largest tournament-based MMA organization in the world. Bellator champ Ben Askren officially joins Roufusport Fight Team

After revealing his intentions this past Saturday night, Bellator welterweight champion Ben Askren (8-0 MMA, 5-0 BFC) is now a full-fledged member of the Roufusport Fight Team.
The Wisconsin-based squad today announced Askren's addition to the roster.
"Ben is a world-class wrestler, and I'm very pleased to have him joining our fight team," Roufusport head Duke Roufus stated. "I believe we’re going to help him take the next step in his career, while his wrestling will only benefit the other guys on the team."
Askren joins a roster that includes UFC fighters Pat Barry, Alan Belcher, Danny Downes, Erik Koch, Anthony Pettis and Ben Rothwell.
"I'm very excited," Askren stated. "I think Duke can do a lot for my mixed martial arts game."
A four-time national championship finalist while wrestling for the University of Missouri, Askren made his MMA debut in February 2009. "Funky" wasted little time ascending to the top of Bellator Fighting Championships' ranks by claiming the promotion's season-two tournament title before claiming the belt in a October 2010 win over former champ Lyman Good.
Askren is currently awaiting the winner of a Bellator 43 matchup between season-four tourney finalists Rick Hawn and Jay Hieron.

If Duke Roufus can polish Ben Askren's standup game then we're gonna have a serious beast in the WW division someday
He would already outwrestle Fitch, Koscheck or GSP i believe.

Ok, I like Heiron but I have to disagree. Askren is on the rise and only getting better. But then again I'm biased towards wrestlers.

Yeah, these guys are good for practice. I agree that we'll be able to see alot more of his hands. Lord knows he needs it cause his ground game is funky but it's weird at the same time.

Well these guys are pretty good training partners. So he should be able to improve on his striking. That'll only make him better.
