Rate A Fighter (Week 1)

Posted 12-14-2007 at 12:49 PM by

OK so lets see who the people on the MMA forum think is the best overall fighter by basing it on 5 parts of a fighter

1. Stand UP
2. Ground Game
3. Take Down Defense
4. Victories/Who he has beat
5. Your opinion

And the fighter you want next

base each out of 10

for example
10 for standup
4 gor ground
7 for take down defense
1 for victories
10 for opion
next fighter-fedor

so that would be 32

I will post a new fighter every Friday and post the scores of each fighter there rank according to other fighters

    1. Stand UP - 8.5 (if he can work his kicks hell be great)
    2. Ground Game - 8.9 (really patient and very smart)
    3. Take Down Defense - 9 (his reversals are crazy)
    4. Victories/Who he has beat - 9 (second only to Nog in terms of resume)
    5. Your opinion - 9.3 (really great hands, crazy TDD, awesome ground game, big big heart, and obviously unstoppable at the moment)

I think in terms of skill, hes definitely one of if not the best. But career and ranking wise, he just needs to fight better opponants.

    1. Stand up - 8, kicks would help
    2. Ground game - 8.5
    3. Take down defense - 8.5
    4. Victories - 8, still a lot of people for him to fight
    5. Overall he's about an 8.2, he's a jack of all ace of none (except maybe GnP)

Stand-up-7. He still throws wild shots that miss. He has a nice jab and needs to use it more. He can kick really well, and yeah, as mentioned, he needs to start using them more.

    2. Ground game-9. Dude is really, really good on the ground. Nogueira couldn't sub him, and Nog's a great grappler. This was back when Nogueira was pretty much seen as unstoppable. Fedor played the guard game, and escaped subs like they were nothing. He pulls off armbars with the quickness, he pulls off kimuras nicely. He works well off his back.

    3. Takedown Defense-7. Coleman tried like mad to get him down and Coleman has a nice shot. Still, Fedor has been taken down before. A strong, young wrestler with a good shot, could take Fedor down.

    4. Victories-8.5. Nogueira twice. That is good enough.

    5. Overall-9. Fedor's a great fighter, who needs to challenge himself. He's wasting his talent by fighting turds. Get back to pounding dudes, Fedor.

Stand up - The guy isn't going to be entering K-1 anytime soon but he can stand with strikers and hold his own. 8

Ground Game - It is real good. If it was just submissions I would give him an 8 since he isn't even close to some HW's like Nogueira and Werdum sub wise but his GnP is so much better than everyone else's. 9

TDD - It's good not great but real good. Stuffed Coleman up good and Coleman has a top flight shot. 8

Victories - If you go back to his Rings days he beat some real good fighters. Throw that in with Cro Cop and Nogueira. 8

Overall - Fedor is such a good package. He puts all his skills together very well. 9

I didn't even think I liked Fedor that much.
