This will be my first blog in a while and I wanted to cover the UFC right now. I am going to rank the top 5 in each division and throw out some important upcoming fights in each weight class.

Lightweight:
1.Champion: BJ Penn (9-3-1)
2. Kenny Florian (9-2)
3. Sean Sherk (7-3)
4. Gray Maynard (4-0-1)
5. Tyson Griffin (5-2)
Notables: Nate Diaz (5-0), Clay Guida(5-3), Frankie Edgar(4-1), Roger Huerta (6-1), Joe Stevenson (6-3), Spencer Fisher (7-3)

Prognosis: Top three were easy and clear cut but after that it pretty much becomes a big jumble of solid contenders. It will be a while before these guys sort themselves out. Probably the weight class with the most contenders and every matchup is a good fight.

Upcoming Fights: BJ Penn Vs. Kenny Florian, Frankie Edgar Vs. Matt Wiman

Welterweight:
1. Champion Georges St. Pierre (11-2)
2. Thiago Alves (9-2)
3. Josh Koscheck (9-3)
4. Jon Fitch (8-1)
5. Dustin Hazelett (5-2)
Notables: Chris Lytle (5-8), Marcus Davis (7-2), Matt Hughes (15-5), Mike Swick (7-1), Karo Parisyan, Diego Sanchez

Prognosis: Georges St. Pierre has already beaten the number 3 and 4 guys pretty soundly but Alves has arisen as a very strong contender. The rest of the weight class will have some time to figure out who the next contender is as GSP takes on BJ Penn, and with a win would fight Thiago Alves.
