Why do you Train?

Posted 09-03-2009 at 02:31 AM by Onganju
Hello All… I posted this up before, and I'm digging it up to put it in a place that is more accessible for retro-active reading. In any case, if this stirs any thoughts or feedback, please feel free to contribute.

I simply propose you ask yourself the question: “Why do I train?”

It can be generally surmised that a part of the posters that frequent a MMA forum may have trained in the Martial Arts or are aspiring to. In either case, you have probably asked yourself...

I did this because I was reminded recently that a lot of my old High School buddies were on it. Well, low and behold it was true. A lot of people I have not heard here nor there of was on it.

Now I know the social networking sites are old news. In fact, many of those online would probably think I was living as a hermit, under a rock, in a cave, separated from a majority of the developed world for not subscribing to one. While I may want to put forward the legible trappings of...

Posted 03-06-2008 at 03:24 PM by Onganju
Anyone who has read any of my posts or blogs knows that I embrace a pretty wide range of Martial Styles/Systems and training practices. However, above and beyond all that I make it a point to train in not only an effective manner but in a safe manner.

Let me say it now: I love training in the Martial Arts. If I had the ability to do it, I would try to do it full time. I’ve been able to jump back into regular training for the past 10 months now, and I always look forward to those...

Weapons Training for the Development of Empty-Hand Skills

Posted 02-23-2008 at 01:38 AM by Onganju
I was perusing the number of Martial Arts publications at my local supermarket when I had decided to pick up the April 2008 issue of Black Belt Magazine. "Black Belt?!" you might be interjecting. Yeah I can hear it now, "Isn't that just filled from cover to cover with TMA crap?!" No, not at all. While it may be one of the oldest martial arts publications in existence (many of those years before the world wide acceptance of MMA, and before the GJJ Info-mercial inception of...
