I've done that often but only when I get flammed for being a ____ Hater. Usually it used to be for BJ Penn but now it's more for Anderson. If someone starts telling me I hate a fighter I will say I'm a fan of them.

Anyways, yeah, I think I've done it before but I don't just start like that because it sounds fake. But if I'm being flamed for whatever reason I'll point out who I'm a fan of if its relevant.

I know I understand when its completely neccessary, but when someones in an argument, its like its mandatory that they state it or else their whole argument fails.

Now that I think about it, I do that shit quite a bit.

Seems like some of the newer guys get butthurt over some comments. It's like you can't say that Shogun looked horrible against Forrest, or else the troglodytes will come out and make it seem like you are bashing Shogun and hating him. Same with Fedor. The only guy that is bulletproof is Bas Rutten.

Yes, good example, the Shogun fight. Its like if your saying Shogun looked like crap, and got completely worked by the better man, you have to start it by saying "9/10 Shogun would have won" and end it off with "But this is coming from a Shogun fan"

I dont know if Im saying this the wrong way or how your taking this Damone, Im just super swamped with essays, but this really irked me.

I can't say anything about Shogun anymore. If I defend him, I'm simply a nuthugger, if I say his boxing isn't great, I just hate him and hes overrated.

It is getting crazy with Shogun. I mean people refuse to see a middle ground with him. He isn't a good striker but he's not terrible. He is outstanding on the ground. If you say he is a decent striker you hate Shogun. If you say he is great on the ground you are a nuthugger.

Also it seems like Shogun's flaws are attacked far more than other fighters. I mean Shogun's stand up isn't good but it's better than Jardine's ground game, and Liddell's ground game, And it's on par with Machida's finishing skills, Rashad's finishing skills, and Tito's stand up.

I mean Shogun ain't perfect but he's never been Knocked out while he's been beaten standing the fact he gassed caused him to lose the Griffin fight much more than his stand up. Forrest might have been ahead but it was close until Shogun gassed and basically did nothing but roll into punches. Shogun has below average punching but that is only one skill he lacks yet now he is terrible because of it.

True, its pretty apparent that Shogun has shitty punches, his kicks and knees are fine, but his punching is awry. But I haven't really seen that be a major factor in his fights. Shit, didn't he KO Abidi and Overeem?

And thats the thing with fighters that attain "Holy" status. They are perched up so high that it is easy for anyone to pick out flaws about them, as opposed to a fighter that isn't popular and isn't as good, people just don't care.

Its like Hollywood Celebs, the more famous they get, the easier it is to critique them.

Now I was never a big Shogun fan, I respected and recognize what hes done, but I just never went ape shit over him. Im really in the middle about him, hes just a really good fighter to me, just not a big fan. But there are those that either hate him, or love him. And apparently its forbidden to love or hate.

Loving or hating fighters is more than ok as long as you do it objectively and with reason. I just hate it when people pick fighters to win or lose based on whether or not they like them, rather than the match up in front of them.

Honestly I pick Paulo Filho to win over the majority of MW's out there and I don't like him at all. If you can't pick w/o bias or admit that you are picking with Bias. Like if Shogun faces Machida I will pick Shogun even though I will admit that smart money is on Machida. This judging fighters based on how much you like them is a joke.

That is all over the forum bud and will never end. I try to tell it like it is. Thats the point of view I try to post with, granted I tend to know more information about my favorite fighters.
