After watching the event last night I must say I was pleased with the result of the main event. I'm no Keith fan, but it's not like I hate the guy. The fact that he showed alot of heart and a good chin impressed me. There was one point in the fight I actually thought Jardine had Rampage nearly put away. I remember I'm yelling at the t.v. "GRAB THE ****A!"... After that Rampage pretty much got the best of Keith but not in the way I would of thought. Even though Keith looked to be being put away at the end of the fight I definitely don't think last night's Rampage can be Rashad.
Rampage is my favorite fighter but last night's performance kind of scares me. I don't really think Keith has the power to put Page away but I do believe Evans could. The whole unloading with you're head down hoping to catch a guy is not gonna work with Rashad. Rampage had quicker reflexes then Jardine but he will not against Evans so he definitely needs a different game plan. I think implementing more and more leg kicks would help for one keep Evans from getting inside. Is Jardine really that strong on the ground? This is the same guy in Rampage that pretty much controlled Dan Henderson on the ground but he couldn't even seem to keep Jardine off his feet. If he can't be effective with Rashad on the ground I really don't see him winning cause I think Rashad is more elusive then Rampage and nearly as powerful. I also believe the fact that this will be Rampage's 3rd fight I believe in less then six months will definitely hurt him.
All in all I was happy for the win but saw alot of holes in Rampage's performance. If we're under the impression that Evans is the tougher opponant Rampage may be in trouble. I'll be pulling for Page but him turning into a seemingly one dimensional fighter kind of scared me. Maybe it was just the gameplan the came up with for Jardine and the strategy would be different with Evans.
