Comic books and the movies

Posted 07-13-2008 at 07:38 PM by wafb
For the last few years now we have witnessed the emergence of comic book characters translated to celluloid. Spiderman was the pied piper leading the way to box office gold. This summer Ironman and The Dark Knight will be the leaders in box office revenues, while we look forward to next year with the magna carta of comics The Watchmen, G.I. Joe and Transformers. I'm not surprised that the majority of movies are based from comic book characters. It used to be that this medium was treated like the ugly step-child of the family because the stories are so far fetched and absurd that it was difficult to translate it into film. But with technology finally catching up we can now mine eighty years of stories from comics and provide us a little moment to escape even for a few hours the daily stresses of our lives.
