What happened to Rock & Roll????

Posted 07-16-2008 at 12:30 PM by

So, I used to be able to avoid the terrors of modern Rock & Roll, but due to a major income cutback I no longer have access to my sirius satellite radio. I am forced to listen to AM/FM on my unordinarily long commute here in Atlanta. The AM stations here are very weak and seem to lose signal at night. So, I listen to the rock station and it certainly is not the only one that just sucks. With bands like Coldplay, System of A Down, Fallout Boy, Blink 182, 3 doors Down, Nickelback, My Chemical Romance, Maroon 5, and many others leading the pack; I just don't like where rock'n'roll has gone and can't imagine where it is headed.

I grew up and began to appreciated the older stuff my parents listened to a lot more. (Zeppelin, Allman Brothers, The Police, Feetwood Mac, and many others that I listened too when I was young) But this isn't a phase of mine personally, this really is a crisis of talentless musicians not writing their own stuff and just performing other people's songs to make a living.

It truly has become a sad world when our musicians are too lazy to do their own work.

Don't forget that with the advent of pro tools/autotune, etc. its becoming even more soulless. For example, I used to think Theory of a Dead Man was the biggest Nickelback ripoff, then I realized they are protege's of Nickelback. That was disturbing on so very many levels. I am lobbying in my house to get XM back, we got 3 mos of it when we got our car and now that it's gone i miss it, the local stations suck ass.

Totally think the same thing, i refuse to listen to anything on the radio anymore because it all sucks. I believe that we are in the worst stage of music ever. I luv listening to 70's and 80's music because they are just so talented. Metallica, Iron Maiden, Rolling Stones, The Who....just makes you sad what this generation is listening to
