Ross 'The Boss' Mason on Life Support
http://www.birminghammail.net/news/b...7319-21973078/
Quote:
A STAR of the Cage Rage fighting scene is fighting for his life in hospital after being discovered with serious head injuries in the street.
Ross Mason, aged 32, was found collapsed in the Wood Row area of Redditch early on Saturday.
The father-of-two, regarded as a star of the British cage fighting, remains in intensive care as detectives investigate whether his injuries were suffered in a fall or by an attacker.
West Mercia Police have been conducting door to door enquiries in a bid to trace middleweight Mason’s movements.
His condition at the Alexandra Hospital is described as ‘‘serious but stable’’.
Cage fighting promoter Andy Lillis said: “Ross is one of the most popular fighters in the game. He’s been on the scene for a long time and takes a huge crowd with him wherever he goes.
“Ross is a lovely gentle guy and has never been in trouble. People are in shock and cannot imagine what could have happened to him.
“Our thoughts are with his family and friends and everyone is willing Ross to pull through. He’s such a fit strong, young man so we’re sure he’ll be OK but our hearts go out to his partner Sam and their two children.”
Cage fighting is one of the fastest growing combat sports in the country but has been criticised as a “medieval human blood sport”.
Fighters use fists, feet, knees and elbows as they blend martial arts disciplines, but are banned from headbutting and eye gouging.
Before Mason fought at Birmingham’s NEC in April he told the Birmingham Mail that the sport was safer than boxing and rugby.

Just read on the news that he's regained consciousness and is talking so it looks as if he'll be ok.
Apparently he can't remember anything 3 hours before he was found.
Sorry I can't find a source I just saw it on the tele think it's pretty recent news.

if you check the cagewarriors forums www.cagewarriors.com they have a lot of UK fighters there so could probably find it with a bit of searching as I remember Marc Goddard (friend of Ross') posted some info about it.
