When did I say that a gun prevents people from shooting you? Please find a post of mine that even remotely mentions that. I said that you cannot on any level prevent criminals from getting guns, even if you make them illegal, it's 100% impossible in America, there are far too many guns in the hands of the public and you can already get illegal guns all over the place, if they became illegal to own in general the illegal gun market would drastically rise, and criminals would still get illegal guns very, very easily.

You haven't proposed a single, tiny argument that can withstand scrutiny about how to prevent criminals from getting guns and killing people. "Ban guns" Doesn't solve the problem, on any level. You would have to come up with something far more complex and detailed than that to even start gun prevention in America, much less actually prevent it.
I was going to quote how American cops were supposed to be so strict and how in Ireland you will always get searched if they suspect you, but then you mentioned being bored. I got stopped by the cops the other night when I was walking home pissed on a Tuuesday. They asked if I had taken any drugs, and I was like "On a tuesday night? Who takes drugs on a tuesday night?". I swear they only pulled me over cause they were bored and thought a conversation with a drunk guy would amuse them for a few minutes.

They wouldnt just say "TAKE AMERICAS GUNS!!!!!". It would start small, which I believe it is already. They start with small towns and spread it around a state. That way it is much more managable. I dont think they are getting rid of guns but instead being very strict with gun liscensing, and removing guns from people who dont have the correct liscence + a big fine. I mean that guy can go out and get another, but it's not an infinite source, and eventually they wont be able to get one. You start with making sure gun shops follow proper proceedures. I imagine America is crazy strict with it's border so gun importation wont be that high. Manufacturers sell to reliable sources and not to Joe on the streets. I mean it wont help everything but every gun out of someones hands is a potential life saved from a criminal activity.

I havent solved the world's issues in gun crime? Damn, I think I should step down as president then. I'm just saying that having a gun for protection doesnt even out a criminal having a gun. People say they need a gun to protect themselves and their family, but anywhere inb the world I feel confident in my ability to do that without having a gun.

Thanks to Ape for the sig.

Cops indeed do get bored and mess with you for no reason. I saw a cop stop a guy for jaywalking when the roads had no traffic on them and he was like 15 feet from a crosswalk.

If you are just trying to say that owning a gun doesn't necessarily keep you and your family safe from criminals with guns, then I agree. However, you choosing (or being forced) to not have a gun doesn't make it anymore safe, and wouldn't do any good or serve any purpose. Have a gun, don't have a gun, criminals are going to break into your house with guns, weather those guns are legal or not.

Yeah, like Mexico.. look that one up.
It should be that way, but its not the guns its the people that are the causing the crimes.
Drugs are illegal in america, therefore there should be no drugs here!!!!!!!!

LyotoLegion, I've got a machete under my bed. No accidents, no aiming, no irresponsible ownership. Guns are dangerous in all forms. You can protect your house without having to pull out a gun.
Sean Taylor (football player) was killed in a home invasion. He had a machete for protection. In an open space without a gun when the other person has one, good luck.

Yeah that must have been one tiny 9 year old. Supposedly the man wasn't intoxicated. No charges.

To be honest, you should probably just move if you're at such a high risk .

But Mexico is crazy. Drugs are much less available than they would be if they were legal. As I said before, there are billions of people who have never even crossed paths with drugs and it's a whole different world to them, where as in America, they will almost certainly have crossed paths with guns.

He probably would have been julled if he had a gun himself.

I currently own two firearms: a pistol I purchased on my 21st birthday and an old Russian Nagant from WW2. Both are well hidden but very accessible if the zombies were to show up uninvited. Mind you, I don't have kids so I'm not as cautious with them as I would be if that were the case. I'll probably be buying myself a shotgun for Christmas because I can. Honestly, I have no need for them. I don't hunt. I (currently) don't live in a high crime area either. I just like going to the local shooting range and tearing some sh*t up from time to time. I understand why some people are opposed to possessing firearms, but obviously I agree to disagree on this topic.

At this point, at least in America, I feel guns are too ingrained in our culture to ever realistically ban them. We're a nation that was built with guns. Pioneers had to have them to eat, and when it came time to cry revolution, it was that very necessity that made said pioneers bad ass shots that could contend with the most powerful military might of their time. There would be no America had it not been for our guns, so many wax patriotic over them with an almost morbid fascination.

With that said, gun lobbyists in America have WAY too many connections and influence for guns to ever truly go away. So instead, the major gun companies plant these seeds of doubt in enthusiasts heads that one day they're going to have big brother knocking on their door demanding their weapons. This is most easily demonstrated by the insane spike in gun sales/prices since president Obama was elected. Despite what they say publicly, the major gun manufacturers absolutely love Obama being in office. They probably even kiss his picture goodnight and certainly pray for his reelection so they have a boogey man to point at and scare folks with...
