Support the right to own firearms

They are trying to take our guns. I'm not a gun fanatic in the slightest but once I heard that there were plans of banning assault rifles, I went and bought one. Never owned a gun in my life, only shot a few of them in my life. My rifle sits in my closet along with about 5 or 6 boxes of ammo and a few 30 round mags....

I don't vote. I don't feel like voting accomplishes anything. I feel the whole system is rigged so instead of voting with a ballet, I vote with my wallet.

They are talking of banning assault rifles? Well, I'm part of that growing statistic of Americans who are buying these assault rifles... My number is on there somewhere...

We, the American people are the last line of defense against our ever growing tyrannical government.... Without our firearms, we are sitting ducks.... Even if you aren't a gun fanatic, go out and buy an assault rifle. Be a part of the statistic that does not support these gun laws they want to inflict on us...

Clearly the best way to prove that Assault rifles are not dangerous for the public to own is for everybody to own one.
Bullet proof logic. Its a specialized deadly weapon and not something everyone should be allowed to own. Obviously there are people who can safely have them but the idea of somebody having to have a track record of responsible gun ownership before being allowed to purchase such a weapon is far from absurd.

They just need to implement a Firearm license. Just like you have to have a license to drive a car, the same should be said for any type of gun, not banning them outright.

I've posted an idea on how to regulate gun ownership in another thread, but the thread died. So here it is again:

I've got an idea on how to make sure that only responsible people who are in their right mind get legally access to guns:

1. People with a criminal record in association with a violent crime or a sentence of more than a year can't get guns. (There is probably already something similar)
2. Anyone who wants to get a gun, has to have five adult bondsmen who would be charged and sentenced the same as that person, if that person commits a crime with a (any) gun during the next ten years.

That way only someone who is obviously trustworthy to other people (=small part of society) would legally get access to guns.

What do you people thinkż

I think everyone should own at least a pistol, I don't really see the need to own an AK47 or something like that though, I guess they're fun to shoot(not really into guns) but I think you should only be able to rent them or keep them in a locker at a shooting range or something like that.

The reality is, it's 2012 and people will break into your home and try to steal your shit, so you need to be able to protect your family and your belongings.

OMG, I'm reading this with Family Guy on in the background. They are literally debating wether guns are good or bad LMFAO.

LyotoLegion, I've got a machete under my bed. No accidents, no aiming, no irresponsible ownership. Guns are dangerous in all forms. You can protect your house without having to pull out a gun.
