Ali vs Bruce Lee

I realize this is a silly question, but I am just wondering what MMA types think.
Who would win a fight between Bruce Lee and Muhammed Ali? Assuming both of them are in their prime and fighting by MMA rules.

Well Bruce Lee was considered to be the first true mixed martial artist but when it comes down to it, Bruce Lee weighed in at 135 and Ali usually weighed in at around 215. Lee wouldn't be able to get Ali down and would get his face smashed in.

Ali actually had one MMA fight against I believe Funaki. I also believe it was considered a draw because Funaki spent the whole fight on his back inviting Ali into his guard... Ali did not accept the invitation.

With rules I'd think Ali, on the street I'd take Bruce all day.

Ali was bad.

But Bruce Lee was the baddest.

In a good kung fu movie Lee would destroy Ali and look better doing it than anyone ever.

In any other situation or reality and it isn't even a fight. Ali wouldn't even break a sweat.

Ali was Undisputed heavy weight Champion of the world when that actually meant something. He was the greatest boxer of Boxing's greatest era.

Bruce Lee made great movies.

awesome thread.

It was against professional wrestler Antonio Inoki and it wasn't so much his guard, They agreed to absurd rules that only allowed Inoki to kick if one hand was on the mat so Inoki basically crab walked or butt scooted around the entire time kicking the crap out of Ali's legs while Ali tried to goad him into standing up. The fight was called a draw but Ali's legs where bleeding and bruised and he suffered quite a few complications due to the sheer volume of leg kicks he absorbed.

So, 135lbs vs 220lbs... The greatest Boxer in the history of Boxing, vs the first Mixed Martial Artist. Ali by brutal dominantion.

All Ali would have to do is lean into his jab and he'd be outside of Lee's kicking range. Ali would snap off jab after jab, and use his legendary footwork and head movement to stay away from Lee's kicks and possible takedown attempts. Lee's technical wrestling/JJ knowledge is kind of a mystery, his Judo was legit, but I'm not sure how effectively it would translate against someone so massively bigger, and a superior striker.

Frankly, I'd be surprised if Lee would make it out of the first round. Since this is MMA, its a 5 minute round. I can see Ali snapping off jabs, dropping his hands and laughing as Lee tries to crawl for a takedown, or jump into a clinch. Eventually Lee starts to get worn out by the barrage of jabs, eventually Ali gets bored and puts together a few 1-2 combos and turns off Lee's lights.

As much as I hate to go against my home town hero I think bruce would win. The guy was so damn fast and I could see him giving Ali a side kick to the knee and give me the biggest guy but if you bash his knee and he will go down quick.
