I think he could beat Filho since world class judo usually means pretty solid TDD and if he could stand against Filho for a round I think he puts him away.
As far as Almedia goes I think he would have trouble because Almedia can stand against guys and I don't think he would be able to win against Ricardo on the ground but I'm a little biased since I'm a huge Almedia fan and have trained at his gym.
BTW this is my 4000th post which I thought was a pretty big # till I looked at Damone with his 8000 +

Hmm, You may have a point, since Sonnen pretty much had him, and Aki is like 8x better.
PS: congrats on 4k!

Dang 4000 thats sick. Grats!
I'm lookin forward to this tourney, and if Lindland is in it I think people are gonna be disappointed by where he ranks.

We know he has some of the craziest hands at 185, but he hasn't really been tested against someone with great sub skills.

I think he'd KO Filho. Honestly, I do. I think he can avoid the takedown, and his striking is way better than Filho's.

Honestly though Filho's days at 185 are numbered so this debate really doesn't matter much.

Ok you have a point in that Filho's striking is garbage, but he's still one of the superior sub artists at 185, so supposing he does get him down, I'd like to know how he does.

Yeah, I bet he'd beat Filho, too, if he could stuff him. Same goes for a guy like Leites.
bbjd7, I agree with you on Almeida. He's got some solid hands and could probably set up takedowns with strikes, unlike Filho and Leites.
Almeida would give Akiyama all kinds of problems on the ground.
Akiyama's a better striker than Okami, but he might have a tougher time defending his takedowns. Okami's a lot bigger than he is, and very strong. I could see him winning a decision over Yoshirhiro, much like Lindland.
Anyway, Lindland's my pick here, too. Kang will be a favourite, but Lindland just dominates people on the ground, his clinch game is top-notch and his striking has improved a lot.

No chance of that happening. Sakuraba is badly broken down, while Couture's in great shape.
