I would pick Ishida in that fight myself. The guy is such a beast on the ground. That fight is so hard to pick, though. I kind of see it going to decision with Ishida doing just enough + Japanese judges.

Personally, I thought JZ was dominating Aoki up until the elbow on Shinya's neck. Shinya Aoki is just too one-dimensional and I'd still pick JZ to beat him when they fight next.
Dida looked like crap against a very impressive Alvarez. Dida's supposed to have an improved ground game, but it really didn't show. His striking didn't look all that impressive either, very loopy punches, which at times were simply being throw from too far outside the pocket.
I haven't got time to watch the other fight videos today, and I know most of them went to decisions, but I'd say out of what I watched, JZ or Kawajiri is going to win this tournament.

I'm already on the Hansen bandwagon, and if he fought like how he did last night, I see him in the finals against JZ.

From what I saw of the Ishida fight, it was great, the dude has a completely renewed game and he's hungry as hell. Buscape should be short work for him hopefully.
I think Kawajiri would have a good chance at taking the Decision against Alvarez, but Alvarez is pretty strong himself, so it'll be a long, grinding match.
Hansen should advance very easily as he looked absolutley incredible last night.
And I agree, JZ has Aoki's number, Shinya didn't look comfortable in there at all.
As for the 8th bracket. I have a strong feeling Gomi's gonna get a bye, I can't see anyone else.

Yeah I was wondering that myself. What if the JZ/Aoki fight had produced a winner? Who were they going to fight? Someone (Gomi?) was going to get a bye? Man, this really is Pride all over again. Right down to the shadiness. Oh Pride, how I've missed you. Welcome back.
Hugs DREAM in all it's shady glory.

^^^^ The second elbow looks close to landing on the neck but the first and third were clearly to the shoulder/trap. The second one was close but I thought it was broderline but legal.

Isn't anything to the back or neck or head illegal? Especialy downward elbows? Those look like they hurt!
