hey can someone update me on whats up with akiyama. Why was he not in the mw tourney? Did he get injured? Or is he getting a shoe in like Caol Uno did to the second round?

His nose was re-fractured in training, apparently.
I love Akiyama, he's a badass.

JZ looked great but he had no answer to Aoki's awesome gameplan. Atleast JZ tried his best to crush Aoki's skull every chance he got and escaped that beautiful omaplatte > armbar perfectly.
|
JZ showed very solid sub defense, but I'm still trying to figure out why he played the guard game with Aoki. He should've kept it standing, like their first fight. But, whatever, the fight ruled and made me still love both.

DREAM exec's are saying that Akiyama more than likely will not get a bye into the next round like Uno did.

I just got finished watching the video from Kang's match, I'm not sure what he was thinking. Mousasi took so long to get that triangle in Dennis had all the time in the world to backdoor out of it. Even if he had to leave his arm in there for an Omaplata attempt. Just flying headfirst into a guy's guard is not a good idea, even worse when his specialty (according the the prefight info) was the ground.
I hope he'll be there mentally in his next fight.

I hope he can pull it together. I think he will. I've grown to really like this guy. Like you said vandalian he's exciting and he has all the talent in the world. He seemed really tentative going into the guard of Mousasi, almost went into it in slow motion. I don't know, I guess he just choked, no pun intended. I think he's too smart and athletic to be held back by a simple mistake like this. He looked very good before he walked into the triangle IMO.

Looked like an amateur mistake the way Kang left his arm out there...........I bet he is real pissed of the outcome. He invited the guy to put a sub on him..........

what happened i thought his ground game was better than that. First he lost a kimura that if he went to north/south he would have definitely finished then that slow triangle

Yes I couldn't agree more. He basically walked into that triangle, I saw it before it even happened. Also TC why do you have a picture of goldberg as your avatar
