What do you think, was it the styles??? Ishida looked great/awesome against Gilbert Melendez, who most people would consider a better fighter than Caol Uno (no disrespect to Uno, he's great) but most people have Gilbert as a top 10 figher, and not Uno. So was it the styles?? Or was Ishida having an off day?

Because he just kept pressuring and pressuring Gilbert. Uno he couldn't do hardly anything to.

So interested to hear your thoughts on that.

Also where would you put Ishida now in rankings?? I had him around 5th before I watched DREAM.3, now I have him in 9th, even though the performance I watched, was not of a top 10 LW fighter. Also, has Uno slipped onto your Lightweight rankings top 10?? no here, he'd probbaly be 15-20 for me.

Uno has always been underrated. People just don't know exactly how good of a grappler he really is. His last few fights weren't that hot, that's why people wrote him off. But the guy has some serious skill and it showed.

His takedown defense is what baffled Ishida, he had no answer on the ground either. Plus, Uno's boxing and movement was crisp as ever.

He really came in 100% to this fight and REALLY wanted the win. You can't knock Ishida, the guy tried, he wasn't as aggressive in this fight, and the strikes really kept him back, but he still looked good.

Uno looked like he could definitely take on many of the UFC's LWs. I'd rank him close to the top 10 after that fight, he just looked incredible.

Also, on a side note, I'd slip Alvarez into the top 10. Dude beat some great fighters in great fashion. Same with Kawajiri.

It certainly wasn't Ishida's best fight, but I thought it was more a case of Caol Uno looking spectacular than anything else. Damn that dude was slick and had some awesome takedown defense. The best Caol Uno I've seen in many years.

I haven't seen the Uno fight yet, but I must say, the Ishida in the Melendez fight was quite possibly the best I have ever seen. He was just so fast and relentless, it was ridiculous.

Uno just dominated Ishida. That was awesome. It was cool to see Uno come out on top (and in a pretty dominant fashion). He controlled the fight everywhere it went, stand up his boxing was much faster and his takedown defense was rival to that of BJ Penn. I can't wait to see how far he goes in the tourney. Sidenote: What was the deal with kawajiri staring down Uno like he was pissed off... after Uno's fight? Maybe just because Uno had just demolished his teammate?

Oh yeah, plazz you're right about Alvarez. The dude's been more and more impressive. His boxing is fantastic, solid takedowns, and good sub defense (that's where he needs the most work imo). Joachim had obviously worked his subs, but he's no sub expert... if he can come so close to finishing Eddie, than this could be a few rough fights coming up for Alvarez.

Ya good point. I definitely see Aoki finishing Alvarez with some sub, which sucks cuz Alvarez is so cool.

Aoki is a million times cooler, though. I mean, if Alvarez rocked rainbow pants, he'd just look like some idiot. When Aoki rocks it, he looks MANLY!
