Jake Shields needs to leave Elite XC

Seriously if Jake ever wants to fight the top welterweights, he needs to leave Elite XC and sign with the UFC. Then we will get to see how good he really is. None of the top welterweights are ever going to fight in Elite XC. I don't understand why he would stay, unless he wants to be a big fish in a small pond.

Nope. Alot of up and comers now days. EliteXC will continue to broaden its talent pool and Jake is where he needs to be. He can compete in DREAM and Affliction if he wants to as well as Strikefore and Cage Rage.

Could he do that under Dana? He's already called out the winner of Fitch GSP. But of course Dana wouldn't let that happen. Dana has Orgs smoking right behind him right now.

Bet the October show tops the scales in ratings.

I have to disagree with you on that one J.P. What good will cross-promotion with Affliction and Dream do when all the welterweights that are worth mentioning are in the UFC? If Jake wants to be on top he needs to sign with the UFC.

Why does fighter X have to sign with UFC, isn't it possible fighters ABCD should sign with Elite XC? I agree with JP he is fine where he is and since when did UFC become the end all be all of MMA?

Funny thing is all of the Known welterweights are in the UFC. But they are only known because the UFC is known and watched.

EliteXC is rising and with the attention it is getting, I wouldn't be surprised to see the talent pool thicken rather quickly.

I never said the UFC was the end all be all of MMA! Have you ever heard me say something stupid like Fedor should forget about Affliction because the UFC HW division is packed to the ass? No, because it is not true. Afflictions HW division is stacked like you wouldn't believe while UFC HW division has gotten considerably weak.

But what the UFC lacks in the HW division they do make up in the Welterweight and Light Heavyweight division. Even when PRIDE was around the UFC WW division was ten times better. If Jake wants to become a more established Welterweight the UFC is a good place to go.

Are you sure about that? EXC ratings were down 47% from the last show. Hardcore fans of EXC aren't tuning in to watch guys like Robbie Lawler and Jake Shields. They want to see Kimbo Slice and Gina Carono. Kind of hard to make a talent pool when all everybody cares about is some chick and a youtube internet fighter stealing the show.

I just don't feel like the UFC's ww division is the best one, like JP said its the most well known, best? That could be argued, I think Jake would kill Koscheck, Diego, Serra, Parysian, and could give GSP, Alves, Fitch, and Hughes a good run for their money. I still say he doesn't need to leave, if he stays in Elite XC in two years half the guys I just mentioned could be in Elite XC, or is that too hard to comprehend?

Edit: By your own argument do you think Anderson should leave the UFC?

That argument doesn't really hold up. Anderson Silva is the #1 Middle Weight... Jake Shields is not the #1 WW. The point of his argument is to move to UFC because the best welterweights are there. Anderson silva wouldn't need to move because he IS the best middleweight.

Yes, hardcore fans are tuning in Bonnar, that's probably the only fans who did watch.

I can see in the long run that EliteXC will weather the financial storm. I still think that the strategic consolidation of Pro-Elites organizations will occur.

All the fighters from CageRage, ICON and such combined will be huge.

I also think that Kimbo will be sacraficed to Bigfoot when the time comes. For money and fanbase.

The next CBS show could potentially have Frank Shamrock vs Robbie Lawler, Kimbo, Gina and soon after, K.J. will be seeing Nick Diaz. The ratings will be there. If not EliteXC will be back on Showtime and Pro-Elite can stay afloat.

There is alot of financial backing in EliteXC. They'll continue to sign fighters and make cards. I don't see them going anywhere anytime soon. Not with MMA exploding the way that it is.
