Joey Villasenors next fight SEPT 20th.
Quote:
Middleweight Joey Villasenor will fight at EliteXC "Showdown" on September 20 at The Pit in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The promotion today announced the event and Villasenor's participation.
Villasenor (26-6) trains out of Greg Jackson's camp in Albuquerque and is considered a contender for Robbie Lawler's EliteXC title. Villasenor, a former King of the Cage champion, fell short in his first attempt for the EliteXC title, losing by TKO to Murilo "Ninja" Rua at a Strikeforce-EliteXC co-promoted event in June 2007. Other than that loss, Villasenor has been victorious in his other four fights with EliteXC, and most recently stopped Phil Baroni at the inaugural CBS-EliteXC "Saturday Night Fights" event.

Villasenor has won four out of his last five.
Looks like he's trying to move into another contender position. His last loss was to Ninja. His opponent has not been determined as of yet. But he's rolling. He's a solid compeditor and I can't wait to see who he fights and what he brings.
I think he's got good hands, and at middleweight it gives the other guys something to think about.
I wouldn't mind seeing him face Scott Smith.

Villasenor is a solid fighter, who I've always dug. I wouldn't mind a Smith vs Smokin' Joey fight, since both guys like to slug it out. I'd go with Joey by sub in that one, though. I think he's the better all around fighter.
Hell, Villasenor vs Ninja 2 would be fun, too.

Villasenor vs Lawler 2 could be fun. Their first fight was great in a "Wow, look at that dude eat that knee" sort of way.
I like Joey when he doesn't get all sloppy. I thought he looked horrendous in the Ninja fight. It was fun, but Villasenor needed to slow the hell down. Of course, he lost.

Ninja vs Villasenor 2 would be fun. I defiantly don't think Villasenor deserves a title shot before Ninja gets one so to me they should do Ninja vs Joe.
I'm not that intrested in Villasenor vs Lawler 2 I think Lawler would walk through him no problem again.

Since that show is right here in ABQ I am really hoping that they set up Villasenor vs Ninja again. I would love to see that fight live. If he could beat Ninja then he would definitely deserve the next shot.

I'd love to see Joe Villasenor fight Hector Lombard.
