Am looking at getting some new games and was wondering what you guys think are the must have games. For any console, just your favourite games really.

For me it has to include

Red Dead Redemption
Skyrim
Alan Wake
Portal 2

That's all I can think of for now.

Depends on what kind of games you like.

Story driven fantasy games I would say Final Fantasies for sure. 7 and 10 are my favorite. 8 was alright and from what I heard 6 is very good as well. Skyrim is very good. Although I lost interest after hours upon hours of play time and traded it in, I wish I had it back now.

Horror games I am a fan of the Resident Evil series but I much prefer the older ones. 1, 2 and 3 >>> 5 >>>>>>>>>>>>> 4. I haven't played Alan Wake but I hear it is a good one.

Other good shooters with great stories include Mass Effect series and the Uncharted series. Halo 1, 2 and 3 (I wasn't a big fan of ODST and Reach was ok) Gears of War series is awesome as well.

FPS I like Battlefield a lot more then COD these days. Battlefield for online, COD for the storyline imo.

God of War and Metal Gear are awesome games. There are HD remakes of Metal Gear and God of War. Metal Gear is available for xbox and ps3, I think God of War is only out on ps3.

MMO's I am still all over World of Warcraft. I don't think it will ever get old for me. Star Wars the Old Republic is pretty fun. Biggest problem from what I hear is that end game is lacking big time now but leveling and storylines are amazing. I have never played Rift but that seems to be going well and some of my friends enjoy it. Biggest downside to these games is that after you buy the games, you have to pay monthly.

I'm downloading the demo for the third right now on 360, but I've heard some real, real bad stuff about the ending about the third.

Obviously, I don't want it spoiled but is it as bad as everyone says?

The ending is pretty weak! Its something Bioware said was going to be fixed but as it stands right now its weak. However, Mass Effect is still an awesome series and is worth the money.
