Elder Scrolls Online screenshots show a tour of Tamriel, armored backsides

The few glimpses we’ve seen of Bethesda and Zenimax’s Elder Scrolls Online could double as tour brochure snapshots with their epic extravagance and totally non-coincidental poses. A recent preview event has further illuminated the breadth and complexity of an MMO-ified Tamriel with a set of new screenshots. Among other vistas, see some loot-laden starlit ruins (watch out for Draugr!), shield yourself from the fiery burp of an alligator demon, and get ushered into the steam-hiss cacophony of a Dwarven city by the ever-annoying Sphere. Take a look below.

The lore makes this game very, very interesting.

However, if it is a generic third person MMO, it'll hurt the franchise more than help it. I'm just glad Bethesda is not making this, they are focusing on Fallout 4, a different dev team is making this.

All i've read is people are rather upset that Bethesda isn't doing it, instead of being happy like you. I do hope they nail this one and won't hurt the franchise.

I'm happy they aren't making it because it means the actual core team of Bethesda games (games like Fallout and the real Elder Scroll games like Skyrim) are focused on making the same amazing single-player RPGs they are known for doing. Instead of them focusing all their time/energy on an MMO that looks to be pretty generic, they are putting all their time/energy on the next big game of the year title in Fallout 4. So long as the big single-player TES/Fallout games keep rolling out, I'm content with however TES online turns out.

Also, they don't know anything about making an MMO, so it's better they leave that up to a different team that does. I will say, though, if this MMO was first person and played very similar to the single-player games, It would probably be one of my most anticipated games ever. I am very disappointed that they went the generic third-person gameplay style.

Not sure if i understand you correctly but perhaps you can change the camera from first-person to third-person, just like in the previous TES games..

The game is third-person only, you play it like you'd play Guild Wars of World of Warcraft, there's no first person combat.

What I'm saying is, if they made the game play like the single-player games, first person and how the spells work and all this, it would be very interesting, but that's not how the game is played - it's played like a generic third-person MMO like WoW or Guild Wars, very different from actual TES games.
