Can any horror movie past or present theater or at home scare you?

I have seen pretty much every noteworthy horror or thriller known to man but none of them at all can scare me at all, with the exception of maybe some tension in friday the 13th movies i'm never flinching or having my heart racing. Am I alone here or does anyone else feel that horror movies always fail in doing there job of scaring you?

I stopped finding movies scary after Resident Evil 2 came out.

Though if i watch them after a heavy night or two or drinking then they could scare the hell out of me. my nerves are shot during that state. no word of a lie, I've jumped a few times just from the toaster popping.

gotta allow yourself to be inside the movie/story. Picture yourself in the movie.

I find most people today go to see a horror movie and just pick it apart because it didn't scare them so they lose the magic of what its suppose to be

I went to see the exorcist at the theater when it first came out in 1973. I was 11. I went with 2 teenagers. we had to cross a church picket line to get in the theater and they were pissed that I was so young. One of my friends pretended to be my older brother and almost had to fight our way in.

I was scared shitless before the movie even started. ...and then it was the scariest movie I'd ever seen.

I thought Sinister was quite good. There's one scene that actually made me and everyone else I was watching it with scream. And it's not one of these cheap scares where they turn up the volume for a second and that's basically the whole trick.

Really looking forward to the remake of The Evil Dead. Hopefully it's as good as the trailer.

The one movie that really scarred me as a kid was Poltergeist.

Problem with horror movies today is that almost every character in the movie is an unlikable douchbag. If you don't care for any of the characters then their is no tension when they are put into a dangerous situation. In fact you might actually root for them to get killed. That's when it stops being a horror movie and starts being a cartoon. This movie right here is a prime example of everything that is wrong with a horror movie.

After watching that is their anyone you would not want to see get killed?

You forget that this isn't just some brutal sport where everyones out to kill each other. Its much more like a game of physical chess.-looney liam

Me too Bonnar426, that's the only film I ever remember being scared of even after seeing it, though I was younger. Think it went away after I made the folks get rid of a big damn clown toy in the room.
