Good answer.. though if we were going off the most technical, he would be a lot lower.

To be honest I tend to phase out when some guy is playing a five minute highly-technical-look-at-me-I'm-sweeping-solo. There are few guys like that I can listen to without falling asleep. One of them is Jeff Loomis because he understands that the fast and technical stuff is supposed to be the 'filler' and the important notes are the ones you play slow but on point. Jari Mäenpää could be considered one of the guys who do the shredding routine but know their songwriting as well although he's not all that shreddy.

I don't consider myself a true metalhead but I get into some thrash and progressive metal from time to time.

I'm big on Pantera, Megadeth, Tool (major fan), Dream theater, Soad, Alice in Chains (not really metal but borderline), and Metallica (especially AJFA ablum). A few songs here and there from Motorhead and Danzig...I guess I'm old school lol.

Tool is an amazing band. I cannot wiat ofr their new album.

I consider Grunge to be a sub genre of metal, so Alice in my eyes is metal.

Yeah tell me about it. Laterus is one of my all time favorite albums, and 10,000 days was pretty sweet too. I like the album every 5-7 years format too because it shows change/growth in style.

And I love grunge, AIC, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, STP to name a few, are still in my rotations.

But I thought this was a metal thread? Where's the Slough Feg love? Pavor? Darkthrone? Bathory?

You guys need to step it up!

I actually recorded an acoustic cover of One Rode To Asa Bay once... can't find it anywhere though.
