They're remaking Scarface.

Yeah remaking Scarface the movie. Oh man. You cant mess with that film. It was so 80s but in a good way. I know the 80s film was a remake of the Al Capone film in the 30s but this will suck. Guaranteed. Why can't people try to come up with something new and original? Dayum.

If they rework it like they did when they remade it the first time then it could be good. The movie isn't really original, you only need to hit a few points and call it scarface that's all they did for the 80s remake. If they try to shot for shot it then it will fail horribly. Also depends on who plays Tony.

Also they kind of already remade it as a TV show in Breaking Bad. That was basically Scarface in modern times. Meth instead of coke, guy comes from nothing to running an empire and gets gunned down as his last stand. Walter even had a Manny with Jesse. Breaking Bad has about as much in common with the 80s version as the 80s one does with the one from the 30s.

Yah mentioned this a little while back. It's set in LA with the Training Day direct/writer I believe. He's good when it comes to crime films. If you like SF check out Cocaine Cowboys.

Marcus Aurelius: Tell me again, Maximus, why are we here?
Maximus: For the glory of the Empire, sire.

Baked, not fried... the healthy choice.

There's a really good team behind the movie and i'm sure it'll turn out as a very good one. That said, i still hate the idea. Some movies should just be left untouched. The last one perfectly captured the essence and the feel of the 80s and is a true classic, can't imagine the same setting in modern day.

Also these day's it's hard to imagine the franchise being left alone. A succesful movie means a sequel with a possible trilogy option. If they don't get most of the cast back, it's prequel time. By the time they're done with the franchise, it's going to be so over-played. That's the worst case scenario though.

Came into this thread expecting to read something about Aldo.

I am disappointed.

I actually think this will be good. A film like that isn't really popular these days, so it's defo a "passion" creation. The original hasn't dated amazingly these days either and you'd struggle to find younger people being big fans of it.

I think it'll be alright.

I'm probably the best at keeping threads on topic of all time.
