DC Cinematic Universe

Fun times to be a comic book fan. Marvel is leading this thing right now and DC is finally starting to get their shared universe on the big picture as well. First off, i'm a huge DC fan, more so than Marvel, that's for sure. Didn't see the trailer posted here so thought i'd do it.

Absolute badass imo. I love the darker, grittier tone they are trying to set. What else do we have coming?

Suicide Squad - Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn's movie debut), Cara Delevingne etc. are starring as some of the villians.

Wonder Woman - Cal Gadot. I love her and love Wonder Woman.

Flash - No idea who's going to play him and i'm not sure how to feel about having the TV Flash possibly running on the small screen on the same time as part of a different universe but oh well..

Aquaman - The dude who played Khal Drogo. I'm excited to see what they are going to do with Aquaman.

+ Shazam, Cyborg and Green Lantern movies are supposed to come out some time. The Rock is attatched to the universe as well as the next Batman and Superman solo movies already confirmed. Needless to say i'm excited.

Discuss, i guess?

I think the fact that Marvel got out first and have been perfect with everything will ruin DC for me.

That and the fact that I watched Daredevil in it's entirety and couldn't get through 5 minutes of The Flash.

Also Batman can't fight Superman in a movie. It works in comics because comics are so up and down with their powers, but essentially Superman can tear Batman apart before he even gets out of bed.

I'd imagine Flash and Daredevil are very different shows though. I haven't seen either of them yet so i can't give my opinion.

As for Batman and Superman. Theoretically Superman should run over Batman but we haven't seen this version of him yet. I'm sure once the final battle happens between these two, Bats is going to be fully prepared for him. Add kryptonite to the equation and we have a fight.

Funny enough, i watched Batman: Dark Knight Returns II earlier tonight where Batman beat Sups. The plot was around an older Batman who came out of retirement and was significantly older than the versions we usually see. Seems like the movie might be heading that direction somewhat.

It truly is. Sometimes I look around at how amazing our visual technologies are and just can't believe how lucky we are to be alive in this time. Comic book films were so hit and miss for most of my youth, and they often weren't taken very seriously (the Batman films between Keaton and Bale, for example, the 60's Batman show, the early 90's Flash, that awful 80's Captain America movie, etc...). It's great that we have enough public interest, money, effects, and respect for the material that we can have so many epic comic films and TV shows going on right now.

Seen both series in their entirety (so far) and the main difference I've noticed is that Flash is a little more kid-oriented than Daredevil, which got pretty dark. Flash is more scifi adventure than grittiness, at least. I think this is partially a product of one being a Netflix show and the other being a public network TV show, Netflix' originals are always pushing limits, but also Daredevil was generally a darker book anyway. Flash is like what Arrow has become since they made him get all moralistic about killing.

I actually just downloaded the two Dark Knight Returns animateds for my GF just last night, haven't watched them yet. I read (and still own!) the book in HS, love the story and want her to experience it, but I'm not sure she could sit through actually reading a graphic novel sadly.

I agree it's a good day for comic book fans. They've been trying to bring these characters to life on screen since before any of us were born, they never did it better..

As for Flash and daredevil, I like both shows and I think they both represent the personality of their respective books very well

I went to the newest Avengers yesterday, still into the Marvel lineup. But I'll watch some of these DC flicks two especially Batman/Superman and Flash. Kinda wish the two similar competitors could team up in the movies like they did in the comics with JLA vs Avengers.

I was just comparing Flash to Daredevil in that which one is better. Flash is so glossy and childish, and that's saying something considering that I'm a fan of Avengers.

Logically the way they are shot, Flash(tv show) should be Marvel and Daredevil should be DC haha. Change of to for both of them. Enjoy both shows in different ways.

I just wish had connected tv and cinematic universes. It may hurt them in the long run having everything separated.

I can't really choose comics wise between the two. Love both companies and my two favourite heroes are Supes and Spidey so it's a great time to be alive right now. I adored Man of Steel and am loving the trailers for Dawn of Justice. Love the direction they are going and with Doomsday pretty much confirmed I think we're in for a movie that will top the lists of best comic movies for a long time. That said, I thought Miller's Dark Knight Returns was overrated. Openly admits to hating Superman and made him a bitch in it just to give Batman and a few others a cheap win. That said, it's a good Batman story but outside of that I'm not overly fussed. There are far better out there. Using it as a reference for a film though? Sold.
