I was just playing FarCry2 on my friends xbox with my hdd and it asked for an update. Well the update froze and we just turned the machine off. Well now the xbox will not go past the 360 logo as long as that hdd is in the machine. Apparently the update corrupted the hdd and now I'm forced to buy a new one. This all happens 2 days before Gears of War 2 comes out and right before Call of Duty: WAW and Left4Dead comes out. I hate microsoft and their crappy software and hardware. Its another $100 to replace the hdd and it wasn't even anything I did to break it and neither microsoft or ubisoft care.

Buy the next Xbox at Best Buy and purchase the extended warranty. I had to return mine to them about a year ago. They took it back no questions asked and replaced with a new one.

the xbox is fine, its the hdd thats screwed up. I don't have money to replace it, so i'm stuck playing friends xboxs right now

I bought my xbox 360 over a year ago.. I paid for the 1year in store warranty..

With like 2 days left on my warranty, I got red ring of death.. so I took it in.. got a new one..

My roommate also had an xbox, so when mine died, we just started to use his. I never got new instore warranty because apparently they were supposed to have fixed the red ring problem with the new xboxs..

So we are using my roommates xbox for a few months.. and he gets red ring of death... I was like no problem, got a new xbox in my room.. still in box.. Take it out.. plug it in.. red ring ... I still have microsoft warranty, so I mail it to them.. they mail it back unfixed, saying it was tampered with, so they cant fix it. It was a BRAND new xbox.. taken out of the box.. didnt work, so I mailed it to them..

EDIT: SNS I'd check ebay for some cheap Xbox harddrives, alot of people probably have broken xboxs and sell the HDs on ebay
