Blood- that's sounds like a very good book.

HeavyRob- What's House of Leaves about?

I just finished the 5th book of the Wheel of Time- this series is kickass and just keeps getting better- a lot stuff keeps getting added to the story line making it somewhat complex but very very interesting and entertaining. The books are long, average around 1,000 pages, but they're very worth it.

Trying to decide whether to go right into book 6 or take a small break to read Persian Fire, a history book on the Persian Empire or the lastest Star Wars book. Even as a huge fan of SW I will freely admit that most of the books are not great and many of the writers used are crap- but like a woman drawn to Danielle Steele books I've read all the SW books and will continue to do so.

I've taken a little break from the WoT books because I get too into them. I was staying up to late reading every night because I can't put them down. I stopped after the 5th book as well.

The book on raising a modern day knight has been really good and I'm about 50 pages form finishing it. ( I'll probably finish this puppy in the crapper tonight! haha )

Let me know how Persian Fire is. I've been considering that book myself.

It's a very unconventional book. The basic gist of it is that these people go into a house that's bigger on the inside than it appears on the outside. It should be in the horror section. written by Mark Danielewski

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_of_Leaves

Quote:
House of Leaves is the debut novel by the American author Mark Z. Danielewski, published by Pantheon Books. The novel quickly became a bestseller following its March 7, 2000 release, having already developed a cult following through gradual release over the Internet. It was followed by a companion piece, The Whalestoe Letters. The novel has since been translated into a number of foreign languages, including Dutch, French, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese and Serbian.

The format and structure of the novel is unconventional, with unusual page layout and style, making it ergodic literature. It contains copious footnotes, many of which contain footnotes themselves, and some of which reference books that do not exist.[1] Some pages contain only a few words or lines of text, arranged in strange ways to mirror the events in the story, often creating both an agoraphobic and a claustrophobic effect. The novel is also distinctive for its multiple narrators, who interact with each other throughout the story in disorienting and elaborate ways.

Danielewski expands on this point in an interview: "I had one woman come up to me in a bookstore and say, 'You know, everyone told me it was a horror book, but when I finished it, I realized that it was a love story.' And she's absolutely right. In some ways, genre is a marketing tool."[2]

House of Leaves has been described as a "satire of academic criticism."[3]

LOL too funny...

Anyone read the Lord of The Isles series by David Drake? I have been getting them for a while. There are nine books in it so far. I really enjoy it. You can read a bit about it here. I just got the second book in the next part (Crown of the Isles) called The Mirror of The Worlds.

I just started George RR Martin's Fire and Ice series-A Game of Thrones.I like the way it is written so far with each chapter written in someone else perspective. My wife ordered me the rest of the series that is in paperback.

I am awaiting the final in the Godless Triology by Brian Ruckley. Anyone else here check them out its a lot like Fire and Ice but with some pretty cool twists. I must admit I don't read a lot of Sci Fi Fantasy and have thought about the Wheel of Time series-how many books is it up to or did he finish it?

There's 11 in the series right now and supposedly 1 more to come which will be the final book in the series.

I enjoyed the Song of Fire and Ice series. Let me know what you think when you are done with that first book.

I almost picked up my daughter's copy of Twilight. Then sanity prevailed and I put it back down.

This was the smart thing to do, right?

Right now, most guys in my town seem to be reading a book called "Why I Have A Hard-On for Coach Boeheim And Want To Tell Everyone About It."

Coach Boehiem- the Syracuse basketball coach? It should be titled " I thank Carmelo Anthony for giving a me a title".

Yeah IcemanCometh- like Blood said the series is long and since it started in 1990 the readers have waited a long time for the series' finale. Jordan died recently but from what I have heard the book was partially done and others( I don't know who) will complete it and the last book is due in the fall of this year.

Darkwraith- haven't read any of the Lord of the Isles but will look into it.

pt447- The Inquisitors Manual: a history of the inquisition- that had to be gruesome and very interesting.

HeavyRob- will look into that book as well.

Great stuff people.
