Guise! I forgot to say The Source! pt mentioning the Inquisition made me think of it. This is one of my favorite books ever. Hard to read in many places, but a masterwork, IMO.

Yes, Jim Boeheim. My husband's friend almost named his son Boeheim, and I am not making that up. ppl lose their shiz over Syracuse out here.

Right now, most guys in my town seem to be reading a book called "Why I Have A Hard-On for Coach Boeheim And Want To Tell Everyone About It."
My wife loved that series of books. She said they were excellent and fun reads. She read like the whole series in two days too. I envy her ability to speed read and still comprehend everything...sometimes I get so into the books that i read really fast adn then realize I have no idea what i just read.

That's what being an English major was all about. speed read and remember. that's the only way I got through reading any deconstructionist crap, and most plays I was required to read. Marlowe uggggghhhhhhh.

I read Black House in maybe a day and a half. You b!tches better recognize!

Would it have made asterisks if I didn't spell it with the exclamation point?

I read the first 2 Harry Potter books in a day so I could ask out a lady I worked with who I liked. I had nothing in common with her but I heard she liked those books so I read them to spark conversation the next time we worked together.

Tis funny but I do owe a kids book as a means to get laid.

I did read American Psycho. It scared the sh!t out of me TBH. I'm still scared to rent the movie even though it has mega hot Christian Bale, even though I'm told it's not as insane as the book.

Oddly I noticed that Patrick Bateman is a peripheral character in the Rules of Attraction, he's the brother of Sean Bateman, a character in that book. Anyone who screwed around a lot in college, or would like to, should read the Rules of Attraction. At the very least, you'll be entertained, and it's dated enough to be nostalgic for people over 30.

Not to digress, but just as a tidbit of info:

The Inquisition was never technically put to an end. The same division of the church exists today, although it's called something like The Office of Doctrinal Purity, or something like that. Anyway, get this... The second to last technical Grand Inquisitor was... the current pope!!!

Yup, Pope Benedict was not only a Hitler youth, but the second to most recent Grand Inquisitor!

whiskey, racism, money, grease, twinkie's, guns.....yep lol thats about it

The Harry Potter books are actually pretty well written IMO. JK Rowling reminds me of Roald Dahl: dark sense of humor, and every word is story. There is no pointless exposition.

And you never know what may get you laid.

I'm waiting to read the HP books until after all the movies are done. I'm sick of the whole "the movies were good, but the books were better" phenomenon. So, I've chastised myself and not read them. So close... so close...

No digression at all- that is very interesting. Wow- that's amazing about the Pope- can't say I'm shocked with the Catholic church's history but that is very intriguing to say the least.

EDIT: just saw the HP posts- I fell in love with those books- really really great writing and yes- I went to the midnight release party of the last book. Nerd for sure but it was awesome to see 2000+ people and kids in particular waiting to read that book. Really a great scene.
