Yeah that movie blew but Sci-fi channel did a much better job on their version. I gots the DVDs of Dune and The Children of Dune- and the actress used to play Chani is much hotter than Sean Young and even shows boobies in the extended cut.

The "weirding way" was a fighting style used by the Bene Gesserit and not some voice box that you yelled "Cha-a halud" into it to make neat explosions.

ITA about the sci-fi version. We were glued. The sets/effects/etc were unbelievable. Why don't they ever replay it? There was one sequence where a chick, I think Irulan, was doing some kind of insane weapons form/kata. Because she was insane.

boobies? Sign me up.

SUPER SWEET. You don't have to be a dude to appreciate the thorough rulingness of a naked chick with spinning blades.

I knew there was a reason I wanted to learn broadsword forms. that'll be awhile though b/c I have to master arnis sticks first.

Not sure if this counts as reading but I like to look at my H.R. Giger calendar from last year b/c it has a lot of interesting birthdates marked on it, and the pictures give me wacked out dreams.

Well, I'm into the mystery/suspense novels so I'm currently reading The Woods by Harlan Coben.

Although if anyone else is into this genre I would recommend the Jonathan Stride series by Brian Freeman. The dude knows how to write.

Rated- have you ever read "The Alienist" by Caleb Carr? That was a great book and it's a crime suspense/mystery that based on the first serial killer(I believe) in America. He had a follow up to it with "The Angel of Darkness" but it wasn't nearly as good.

Yeah. Check out the graphic novel. There's just more content, themes and subthemes. Before the movie, they showed a little cartoon preview, which was a comic book one of the characters was reading throughout. It kind of helped certain themes along.

Although I'm struggling to remember this squid thing...

Currently I'm reading political sociology of contemporary society, but I read that because I have to so I don't know if it counts. Other than that I'm reading Gargoyles fan fiction stories.

Since I have been on spring break I have been reading The Gladiator by Harry Turtledove. I have such a backlog of fun stuff to read since I started school that it is sad...

Yes it is. I was not imbressed. Once I asked him "Riff Randall or Kate Rambeau?" and he said "I'd have to go with the rocket scientist chick." When I asked him to elaborate, he said "I like smart lookin chicks." I still don't know if this was a compliment or not.

This weekend I want to read some Patricia Cornwell. I find it slightly offputting that the hot young blond guy cop protagonist in many of her books is meant to be her, but she's a pretty good writer IMO and I'm fascinated with the forensic pathology elements in nearly all her books.
