Swp, "The Strain" was the first Del Toro title that I have come across. I found the writing style in this book to be so engrossing. The second book of this trilogy comes out this October, and it's called "The Fall".

Even though I am a horror fan, the subject of vampires has never really topped my list of things that scare me most. But the way they are presented in this book is completely different.

I was unaware that Guillermo had experience with movies, but I suspected that he did when I went to his official website and learned that there are a number of movie deals as well as a couple of video games based upon "The Strain". Apparently, he has already completed a number of screenplays, but doesn't want to discuss their contents.

I would love to see the scenario presented in this book on the big screen, but only if it is done with the respect that it deserves...no chessey CGI effects pls!

If anyone out there enjoys a really scary, very well written vampire story, please do not miss "The Strain".

I just bought a book, as I mentioned in my earlier post, but I'd run out and buy this on recommendation alone. It sounds amazing.

My username on a horror film and fiction forum I visit, mostly to read their reviews, is guillermoistheman, that's how much I enjoy Mr. Del Toro's work.

Guillermo is the man! That is a fact!

I am a fan of his for life now. I may well even read this book twice, which I almost never do.

I would never ask someone to set aside their current book to pick up another, but if I may humbly suggest that "The Strain" be considered for your next read, I have no doubt at all that you will love it!

I just put a hold on The Strain at the library. Sounds like a must read.

I'm currently working my way through a bunch of books about various martial arts and related matters. Of particular interest among them are The Power of Internal Martial Arts and Chi by Bruce Frantzis and The Art of Learning by Josh Waitzkin.

...also snagged a TPB of X-Men Noir to get my comic book fix in.

I just picked up "The God Delusion" by Richard Dawkins.

Looking forward to reading some of it later today.

Been meaning to read that series for such a long time, never gotten round to it.

I'm still reading the first book of Memory, Sorry and Thorn series 'The Dragonbone Chair'

Just started a book called "I hope they Serve Beer in Hell" Interesting so far. More of an anecdotal story of this guys life during and after college with his douchebag friends...

Thanks to Toxic for the Awesome Sig!

Even if the whole world is against you, one thing will never let you down. That thing is beer.
