The Dune books by Frank Herbert are my absolute favorite as far as Sci-Fi goes. For a guy who never graduated college he is a freaking genius of a writer. All the different things- philosophies, religion, politics and technology that he wove into these books with a masterful storyline is simply amazing. Hope you like reading them.

The sequel and prequel books by his son and Kevin Anderson aren't on the same level but good reads also.

Awesome response people- keep it up with all the great suggestions and discussions.

heh heh we toyed with the idea of going as Duke Leto and Jessica for Halloween and then realized probably no-one would know who the f*ck we were.

I promise that I read other stuff besides horror, but I highly recommend virtually anything by H.P. Lovecraft. One interesting facet of that whole experiences is that it comes out in his "voice" as you read, what an extremely weird individual he was. Maybe one day a movie will be made from one of his works that doesn't suck.

If you like horror books here is two of my favorites.

City of the Dead continues the story of the rising. Great book, with an interesting premise and a great ending.

I just finished Angels & Demons and The Da Vinci Code. Both were great but overall I enjoyed Angels & Demons more.

Right now I'm reading schoolbooks but my friend just gave me another Dan Brown book called Deception Point, which he highly recommended.

I like to read books that will challenge my mindset on a day-to-day basis. So currently I'm reading '177 Mental Toughness Secrets of the World Class' (Steve Seibold), 'Think and Grow Rich' (Napoleon Hill) and 'Talent is Never Enough' (John C. Maxwell).

If you're into self-development, the first two that I mentioned and absolutely anything by John C. Maxwell are amazing. If you take these books seriously, you really do change the way you look at the world.
