I'm currently playing the game and it's very fun. I've gone through first game on PC and now I'm playing DA2 on console so I coulnd't port my save
also I was told that before I should play DA2 I should go through DA Awakening because it makes a lot more sense that way.
Overall I like this game very much, it's just as good as the original and that's what I like in games.

You know whats really funny about this game other then Bioware stealing some Final Fantasy Characters? Even though the original DA was dealing with monsters killing everybody on sight and infecting survivors with the blight disease I found DA 2 to be darker. DA 2 is a glorified rags to riches story and one would think that would be pretty tame compared to monsters wanting destroy the world but somehow it is the darker of the two!

You forget that this isn't just some brutal sport where everyones out to kill each other. Its much more like a game of physical chess.-looney liam

im on my third playthrough as a rouge, i really dig how much replayability this game has im really impressed how they made the combat more action oriented like mass effect 2.

But a true champion, face to face with his darkest hour, will do whatever it takes to rise above. A man fights, and fights, and then fights some more. Because surrender is death, and death is for pussies- kenny powers

Yeah, it's a fun game. I've beaten it twice.

From what I hear, they are already in the process of pre-production for the third game, as in, not quite full on with it but already making the story/characters, etc.

I really liked the ending of DA2, but overall I found the story pretty... I don't know, there really wasn't much of a story up until the ending stages. There are some great characters in the game, but in contrast to DA they're all pretty flat. The combat system is definitely superior though. It's basically the reason I decided I needed another playthrough as a mage.

The story is supposed to be about you and why you left/where you are.

Varric is telling your story, not a story about some evil bad guy or some huge battle - The seeker (the woman talking to Varric in the present) wants him to explain to her Hawke's story from the start, to where he left.

They wanted to go away from your cliche "big bad guy, work your way to defeat him" kind of story, and just tell the story of Hawke and all the things he did/took part of.

Many don't like it, many do, it's sort of a certain taste thing.

I realize the story is about "me", the thing is that there's just not much about "me". It's basically about making money and getting famous which is really no motivation for me at all. That's why I didn't like the first part of the story at all. That's also why it took me so long to finish this part. The game really started for me when I finally had the money to go on that expedition. Stuff finally happened.

Yeah the start feels a bit slow.

It doesn't really thrust you into anything. The action/story mainly picks up after the Deep Roads.

I just finished my second playthrough of this game! Personally, the ending made me feel empty inside! You know in the first Dragon Age every little side quest you did effected your world! For instance, if you helped Brother Burkel set up a chantry in Ozzamar (spelling) it would tell you in the end how that worked out. Or if you bought the Green Blade from that girl in Red Cliff you would find out how that effected her life in the end. It made it feel like every little side quest was important and it helped shape the world. Where in Dragon age 2 the ending is always the same and the little things that you did had no barring what so ever. It just seemed like a hallow ending to me!

Yeah, if you like it or not, Dragon Age 2 is only a make believe sandbox game. Actually the storyline is quite linear and nothing is really changing. It's still a good game though. Not as good as Dragon Age 1, but still better than most.
