I wonder why they moved away from the traditional resident evil gameplay. I really enjoyed that type of Gameplay.
Now its more of a "action" game then it is a survival horror game. ) :
RE1 was awesome. Nemesis... Code Veronica. Heck i loved Resident Evil Zero on the gamecube.
The more "blocked" movement so its hard to get away and the having to conserve ammo was really great for survival horror games.

Yeah I agree. Although I didn't mind 4 and 5. I think the earlier ones blow these ones out of the water. These newer ones just don't give me that same feeling as the older ones did. RE2 is still be all time favorite by far.

I hadent seen either the movie or the show at that point, and with all your convincing I still dont like either. Felt that they had a lot of drama and not enough action. Probably why I love Walking Dead so much, and TUF aswell. Great games if I remember correctly though. I played the original Mafia game loads through renting it. When I got to the mission in Mafia 2 where Joe and Vito killed the dude it was trippy as fuk.
I gt Resident Evil 1 on PS Store a while ago. Thought it was hilarious the first time I found a zombie and he comes...hugs me...and lets me go. That was step one. Next thing I no mahfukas are jumping through windows, and although it's been about 12 years since it came out Im still shitting myself haha.
Did anyone ever play POW? I like those kind of small community games/tv shows. You're locked or stuck in a certain space with a certain amunt of peple and you get to know them all but eventually have to move on and stuff. Pretty much Walking Dead aswell.
I have a pretty standard laptop, will the walking dead games work on it you reckon? Still have an unplayable Sims 3 kicking about haha.

TWD games have very low resource requirements, I wouldn't be too worried.

However, I don't know why they didn't keep it simpler and stick with the survival horror gameplay. Look at Dead Space (the first one) as an example, or even ZombiU coming out soon.

Arnt they also creating the story line though??? It doesnt really seem like they have to change the game-play around. I think all that could have been gotten across even in the older gameplay. And then for really heavy stuff it could have been taken care of through cut-scenes.
I dont know... sounds to me like they felt this would appeal to the masses more and thats why they went with it.

I enjoyed RE4 alot. RE5 was fine because i was able to play co'op. But it did feel like a complete different game imo.

Yeah its a bullshit excuse. In fact its exactly the excuse that the Dead Space creators are using for making DS3 more action-oriented. In reality I think think they just want to make a blockbuster, and feel that a blockbuster today demands more action because slow, creeping survival horror is more a niche market.

Odd. I actually thought RE5 and RE4 were really similar. Certainly the graphics were massively updated, and the setting was quite different (sunny african shantytowns instead of gloomy spanish countryside) but the way it played, aside from the co-op element, felt very similar to me... using the environment by barricading entrances and windows, escapes from windows and second story jumps, knocking down ladders, etc. It had a similar "store" function that I don't recall from the older games, with saleable treasures. The zombies behaved very similarly and for the most part the types you encountered were the same from 4 to 5- the big guy with the chainsaw, the viral zombies with tentacle-sprouting heads, the head-splitting dogs, the giant. Many of these quite specific enemy types were identical between the two games.
In fact I thought that RE5 was the product of some exec saying "RE4 was great! So what if we made a new game, used all the same game mechanics as RE4, but didn't limit it to Wii-level graphics, made it for the platforms we ignored last time, and set it somewhere else?"

I didn't like RE4 much.
The change of gameplay really ruined the series for me. I understand a person should take a game for what it is, like if it's a good third person action game then that's what you should play it for. I was never able to get over the frustration of it changing gameplay, though, and considering there are so few Survival horror games in today's gaming, it makes me even more irritated.

I love it, I am not great at it, but I have improved a lot in the past month. I play Terran for the most part.
