1 is just a little dated in comparison. It is still a very very good game though. The beginning is a bit slow but it opens up big time.

I would say 1 is a lot dated, even compared to 2.
Like you said still a good game, but if you go back and play it, the combat is pretty bad and the graphics are certainly a step down, even the PC version feels quite dated. It's kinda odd actually how dated it feels for its age.
It's a must play, though, especially if you want to do the trilogy.

and on this day I was proclaimed gaming champion of the 8 bit underworld. MEGAMAN 1 Finished, MEGAMAN 2 Finished, MEGAMAN 3 Finished, GHOSTS AND GOBLINS FINISHED, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Finished, Ninja Gaiden Finished. And by god did they make me work for it

I'd heard nothing but great things about Dark Souls. How cool of a story it had, how awesome it's graphics are, and how hard it is. I brought it home and gave it a shot. Know what I learned? That none of those things are true.

Some friends came over yesterday so we hooked up the Nintendo 64. Played some 007 Goldeneye, Mario Kart and a whole lot of Super Smash Brothers.
Reminded me how much I miss how games were back then.

yeah they really did have it down pat back then nintendo 64 has always rules as has nes and snes, nintendo isn't bad right now it's just they have relied on the same 3 franchises for over a decade in zelda, metroid (hasn't seen a game for 3 years), mario. And they need time to be made so theres a big void there. The wii u is not selling well because there is no good games out on it or coming out soon on it.

I also miss not having achievements. It took some of the fun out of games I think. It's less about exploring out of curiosity or doing something a crazy way because of the challenge. Now it's doing what you need to do for achieves. Makes games feel a bit grindy.
Now I am certainly not saying this is how everyone plays, but it seems as if the majority of gamers these days just want their achievement points higher than the next guys.

that's a good game, i've played a mod of the game called parallel worlds which is insanely difficult.
