My advice would be to play the first one then, it's fairly cheap as it's been out for years and it's very fun, Gears 3 is the best of the series but I would check out the first, see if you like it, then get 2 and then 3.
Plus something happens in 3, and if you've played all three games it'll make the big moment in Gears 3 all that more meaningful. |

I doubt it as the game is five years old and the next games have done come out so people have logically moved on with the series. |

not always the case esspecially with shooters, i can pop in my cod4 and still get lobbies with a quickness, heck people even developed computer programs to set up so they could still play halo 2 together,
some people dont like moving on
now gears i never got into but im pretty sure you can just go to your nearest redbox and rent it for a dollar

I got Toy Story 3 from gamefly (Canadian version called GameAccess) for my girlfriend but its pretty fun so I am playing it lol

I've been checking up on Rage, it's getting good reviews (8's mostly).
It's supposed to be like a semi-open world FPS that has vehicle combat and side quests and stuff. I might gamefly it.

CoD4 is a completely different beast than Gears though. Gears has stayed relatively consistent with it's weapons and play style. World at War, Black Ops and MW2 were all garbage compared to CoD4. |
