I couldnt get into Fallout at all. I hated the VATS combat system and the way your character moved and interacted with the environment was awful imo.

I'm having the exact same problem. Going to give it another shot though because the post apoclyptic environment looks awesome. But the movement has thrown me off as well.

You guys talking about Fallout or one of the new fallouts like Fallout 3 and New Vegas?
Fallout 2 (get it on steam if you are interested) is the best of the series IMO. Best story, best characters, crazy stuff. Combat and graphics are dated, but if you can get used to them, such a great game.

New Vegas is better than 3. Just sayin. It's not a mod either. It's a different game, and an improvement imo.

The thread traceback was talking about 3. VATS wasn't an issue in 1&2 and we'd be seeing a whole different set of complaints in that case, I imagine...

Really disliked Fallout 3, not tried the others. I actually have the original Fallout on my computer though, should probably give it a try?

Surprised by all the hate Fallout 3 is getting. It's not the best RPG of all time, but it's pretty damn great in my opinion. The landscape is incredible. Of all the RPG's I've played, this is the most fun I've had exploring, looting, just spending hours running around the map. The whole landscape have such a miserable, gloomy, doomsday feel to it, it makes you buy the post-apocalyptic setting and it sucks you in. The characters are brilliantly made aswell, dark, moody and realistic, again perfect for the scenario. The main quest is decent at best but some of the side quests are pretty spectacular. You also have to be real careful about saving your ammo, saving your stimpaks and taking care of your health, just like you would in a real life scenario. The talking and interaction with other characters is excellent and better than the likes of Skyrim. Just a really fun game with tons of replay value.

It was good, it just had some glaring flaws and felt a little to Bethesda-ey for the franchise, especially to some of us who loved the first 2 and even Tactics. I thought NV was a considerably better game over-all. But FO3 was fun, and has some really memorable DLC.

New Vegas was excellent, a much better story and I would agree it was a slightly better game overall. I wouldn't say it was all that different from F3 though.
The DLC's were a mixed bag. I loved some of them to bits, but I couldn't stand the UFO one.
