Wii U - Excited or not?

It looks pretty great, to be honest. Wii U is the official name for Nintendo's next console, for those that don't know, which will come out probably mid next year.

I'm not a big Nintendo fan, but the controller is pretty cool and the graphics are freaking sweet. You know how long I've waited to see Zelda in HD with top of the line graphics?

Here's a clip of it being played and messed with, what do you guys think?

Was genuinely shocked when I saw the size of the controller. I know they've alienated serious gamers, but that is an outrageous control pad :O

Part of the reason it's so big is because you can play games on the screen as well.

For example, if you're playing on your TV and there's a show on TV you want to watch while you play or your wife/girlfriend/kids (assuming most here are adults) want to watch TV, you can just flip the game into the controller itself with the press of a button and play on the screen inside the controller while someone watches TV.

I agree that the controller is generally pretty large, but from what I hear in articles from people who have played/tested it out, it's a lot more comfortable than it looks and is extremely light.

I'm in the position of "won't judge until I get to play with it", but generally I like where it's going/is at right now. At least it's not focused on motion controls.

Hmmm I'm very sceptical. I need glasses to see the tv, I do not need them to read a book or use a laptop. The controller screen when used in conjunction with a game would do my head in. And, even if I didn't need glasses, changing focus so often would give most people a headache :/

I'd have to try before I buy, but Zelda in HD looks fricken sweet.
