I know the favorite and i also know the 1,2 you can hold next to the weapon or spell BUT that doesnt work well for trying to switch from spells to weapons to weapons to spells.
Cranking up your smithing is easy. Just buy iron ingots, and leather strips from the armorers and forge iron daggers. They only require 1 ingot and 1 leathert strip and get your level up quick.
Also: In Whiterun (Warmaiden), if you talk to the armorer outside after 8:00 AM, she and the interal armorer share x amount of iron ingots and leather strips.
But if you talk to her about 7 when she comes outside in the morning, she will have x amount, and once 8 rolls around (or you wait) go inside and the male armorer will have y amount of iron ingots and leather strips, even though you already bought from her.
You at the lower levls will end up with 10-15 ingots and strips, at the higher levels, you can pull close to 30 of each using that trick.
Also: smithing is an easy way to level up for more perks if you happen to need them for your one/two handed, or armor class.
I'm not very happy with the switching system they use between magic and weapon and shield/ dual wield. I generally stick withone or the other depending on what I'm trying to do, and only use magic as needed, or melee as needed.
