If you have a solid PC, Skyrim should work just fine. I have a good one, but by no means a gaming PC, and by my surprise, Skyrim works really well even on high graphics.
I downloaded Skyrim yesterday (don't hit me, I didn't want to spend 60$ not knowing what I'm getting in to), played about for an hour. Starts off a bit slow, but isn't too bad, I'll play for a couple more hours and if I still like it, gonna buy it probably.
Have you ever played a TES game before, or Fallout?
This game is meant to last you hundreds of hours. The game's main focus is on exploration/dungeons/quests/guilds. The main story quest is actually not the important thing in this game, it's just a side thing you can do.
To get the most out of the game, you must go out into the world and find all the interesting things to look at/find, and all the quests and things to get.
It's one of those rare games that is packed with so much content, that you can play for 100 hours and not even touch the main story.
What are you laying class and ability wise?
Just got to level 33. This game is just.... Wow. 40 hours in and I feel I've only scratched the surface. 100% getting the Platinum trophy for this.
My first character (which I stopped playing after about 20 hours) was a mix of sword/magic/heavy armor/smithing.
I've been playing full archer/stealth and am loving it. With the right perk placement, you kill 80% of the mobs with 1 sneak hit (attack bases/camps at night, stay in shadows during dungeons and you can sneak hit most enemies). When you fail to sneak attack them (rarely happens) then it's a bit tougher, but that's sort of the trade off - instant kill first hits, but if you miss, it can be pretty tough to take everyone out. That's where stealth skill comes into play.
Also, you find a shout that allows you to see lifeforms in the distance and through walls, you whisper, not shout, so no one can hear you do it. It's very, very useful for stealth characters. It's like detect life, but in a shout.
I'm really enjoying the stealth so far (level 21 on this character).
So far the only issue I have with the game is Bethesda didn't fix the AI lines. What I mean is.. well, I'll explain in the spoilers tag (Thieves guild spoilers)
