Well, here's my latest: a look at the latest performance by the reigning king of heavyweight MMA.

*Fedor Emelianenko (31-1-0-1 MMA, #1 IWMMAR (http://mmaopinion.com/2009/10/16/independent-world-mma-rankings-october-2009/))* took two rounds last night reminding the world why he’s the best heavyweight, not just active in the sport today, but in the history of mixed martial arts, when he demolished *Brett Rogers (10-1 MMA, #6 IWMMAR (http://mmaopinion.com/2009/10/16/independent-world-mma-rankings-october-2009/))*.

While there are those who think, for some reason or another, that Fedor’s showing against Rogers exposed some problems dealing with the cage, it’s clear that what we saw against Rogers was nothing new for people familiar with Fedor’s skillset. It was simply the execution we’ve come to expect. In that respect, the showing was mundane, but it was meaningful in terms of the argument for Fedor, potentially, fighting UFC heavyweight champion *Brock Lesnar (4-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC, #2 IWMMAR (http://mmaopinion.com/2009/10/16/independent-world-mma-rankings-october-2009/))*.

Hi I am new to the forums and new to MMA but not martial arts(Tae Won Do for 6 yrs) and being in High School there are allot of fights (off and on campus). Mind you we are a Catholic private school. So one day I decided that why not make an MMA club. The benefits are less injuries since the fighting is sanctioned (We even found an Alumni that is a MMA trainer that would be willing to help us) less fights at and after schools, discipline, and finally getting into shape.

Now to the problem getting approved by the principal. The said above are benefits and seeing that he allows wrestling(one of the most approved sports at my school), hockey and lacrosse(Hockey with fights and running into eachother and lacrosse where we get to beat kids upside the head with metal sticks), and water polo( by one of the hardest sports I play since your not allowed but it happens that people punch eachother under water and one kid had a broken arm from a fight).

Any other ideas to let him approve.

Alistair Overeem fight schedule 6 fights in 2 months, Dream 12???

Alistair Overeem fight schedule 6 fights in 2 months, Dream 12???

Alistair Overeem is a busy man.
On September 27th 2009 Alistair fought in Korea against Peter Aerts to win a unanimous decision over Mr K/1 Peter Aerts and winning that fight Alistair qualified with 7 other fighter (including three of his team mates) for the K-1 GP finals on December 5th 2009.

On October 17th Golden Glory celebrated their 10 year anniversary in style with an awesome fight night in the Passenger Terminal Hall in Amsterdam.
Just three weeks after Alistair qualified in Japan, it was now time for his first MMA fight again against Tony Sylvester from the USA. Within a minute and a half Alistair bombarded Tony’s head with knees, Alistair speciality the guillotine choke came as no surprise and made Tony tap! Winner by submission Alistair Overeem.

Overeem then took a plane with team Golden Glory to fight in Dream 12 in Osaka in Japan.
Opponent James Thompson.
On October 25th Alistair repeated his winning streak in style. Thompson came rushing forward like a bull and for Alistair stepping aside as he did he looked like a matador without a red cloth.
Thompson attacked the same way again with Alistair just stepping away and following with a right straight counter punch. Then just 20 seconds into the first round Alistair makes a crazy high jumping knee and almost lands on Thompson’s shoulders, flying out of the cage!
Thompson goes for a single leg take down and did not even realized that 32 seconds into the fight he gets caught in an Alistair special, standing guillotine.

Alistair Overeem is on a roll and these three fights in one month is a cool test for Alistair’s participation in the K-1 WGP, where he will fight three tough opponents in 1 night, when he qualifies for the finals it must be a record to have 6 fights in 2 months in three different countries, Korea, Holland, Japan.
Golden Glory thinks after the Thompson fight that he is the NBR 1 fighter in the world and he would love to fight Fedor sometime in April 2010. We at G.G also think that no other MMA / K-1 fighter has achieved what he has done in the last year, qualifying for the last 8 best heavyweight stand up fighters in the world. And holding the strikeforce worldtitle in MMA, something Fedor never did (Fedor’s face after the fight with Mirko crop cop was the most damaged we ever haven seen!
Alistair’s first opponent in K-1 is Teixera and it is very well possible there will be a rematch between Alistair and Badr Hari in the second fight of the tournament.
Its going to be a busy night for Golden glory, team golden glory will travel to the K-1 GP with 7 Golden Glory fighters.
Gokhan Saki, Errol Zimmerman, Ruslan Karaev, Semmy Schilt, Chalid Arrab, Alistair Overeem, Sergey Kharitonov. Seven fighters from team Golden Glory will fight on December 5th, never in the history of MMA/K-1 have that many fighters from one team fighting in one show.
Golden Glory is proud of this achievement and is planning to open more Golden Glory gym’s around the world.

In the main event of the evening, the Rhino fan packed Ag Center stayed on its feet for the entire course of this fight between 2 fighters that were not afraid to give it their all and trade punches with each other. Doug “The Rhino” Marshall and Keith “KO Kid” Berry went toe-to-toe in this short 1 round mini-war. Both came out swinging, both landed vicious punches, both fighters seemed to have the fight in the bag but only one could take home the victory. Jabs, hooks, uppercuts, overhand-rights were being thrown all over the cage but once there was a small break in the action, Doug went for a takedown and the fight went one-sided from then on. Following a mount, Marshall let loose an onslaught of heavy hitting punches that eventually caught up to the “KO KID” and knocked him clean out. The fight was stopped at 1:41 into the fight. We hope Keith Berry will be fine and recover quickly as he had to be carried out on a stretcher.
