Is Jones just that good, or simply in the wrong weight class???
He cuts from like 240 plus, has the longest reach, even over any of the current HW, and he goes thru world class fighters like Anderson Silva does. Is it simply a case of jones being that good, or by cutting weight is his size, reach and talent the reason he cant be touched at LH???
His last three fights, good vid this, damn Shogun can take a beating, but Rampage was terrible, just stood there for 4 rounds
He does not cut from 240 plus. He cuts from 220 or a little bit more, it's been noted time and time again he had a very easy cut for the Machida fight.
Rampage, Rashad, Shogun, Hendo, and Machida are elite, Jones is in a class above them.
If you can make weight consistently without issue, then you are not in the wrong weight class. You cant say a guy is in the wrong weight class until he starts missing weight on multiple occasions.

Agreed. He cuts easy. His cardio seems pretty good at 205. If anything, hes the perfect LHW fighter.
Moved another two threads, so that makes FIVE total threads from you that I've had to move here.
If you continue to post HL videos (Which are all made by the same person BTW) on the UFC board instead of in this section, I will have to infract you for forum disruptions.
- Thank you and carry on

he is like 230 before camp where he slowly decreases his weight.
and yes, jon jones succsess comes mainly from his size and reach advanatage.
he would not have the same succsess as heavyweight, AT ALL..
Look at stefan struve, he went straight to heavyweight eventhough he was a skinny ass kid, weighing no more than like 235 and being much taller than jones.
Jones would be like stefan, maybe litlebit more succsesfull at hw if he started of there.
He cuts from 220. His high reach is compensated by skinny legs and lower body which would be vulnerable to takedowns by thicker wrestlers with a fast shot or powerful leg kicks by a guy who could stop his takedowns.
Other fighters like Kendall Grove, Tamdan McRory, Ben Saunders etc. have had proportionally much higher reach advantages in their respective divisions but got destroyed. Know why? They were not as SKILLED as Bones.
It's jones' skill that keeps him from being taken down or chopped down despite his inherent weakness of skinny legs that allows him to make weight with the kind of reach he has.
im looking forward to it ^^ Put him up against Roy Nelson.
I doubt that he will have the same success at HW as he has now at LHW. Yes, part of his success is his superior strength which he wouldn't have against most of the HWs, and adding 30lbs+ of muscle mass would give him probably serious cardio issues with his style. But at LHW he is that good. His physical strength is part of his success, but not the only reason. He has very good skills, his technique is getting better and better, and he has absolute amazing fighting instincts. In addition, what most people probably didn't recognise, he also has a superb timing. I.e. he completely disrupted Rua's breathing rhythm with his straight kicks to the body.
Even though he is very strong for a LHW, he is not really built for HW. If there where a Cruiser weight class at 230lbs, that would probably a good option for him to move up.
