I don't see how you think that would take a long time. You can set a 'time-out' option for any length of time, doesn't have to be 30 days inactive like Hotmail is.
As for deleting accounts, unless the admin can do that besides banning, I don't think you can. We can't even delete our own accounts, I've looked around on here and haven't found a single way to unsubscribe from this site. That could be why there is so many unactive members... they signed up, decided it wasn't for them and couldn't delete themselves.
As for only those who have 20 or more posts to be on the members list, to me that sounds silly. If you're a member, you're on the list... period. It's not the "Members who actually talk" list. Some members are here strictly just for the information, don't punish them for not talking to anyone... maybe they just don't want to. Not everyone here is here to make friends, some are here for information only and you have to respect that.

Combat_HapKiDo has a little shameless behaviour in the past
From what I've read in this thread, it seems to me that you would like to encourage more members to actually post. I don't know if removing access privileges to the entire site will accomplish that. It really depends what you want the site to become - either a small group of active members or a larger group which will consist of lurkers, etc. who are into the site but don't feel compelled to speak. From my experience, usually people tend to lurk at a sight for a while before they begin to post so if you're are too hard core about requiring posts, you will inevitably negatively affect the amount of people who will eventually become members. It doesn't hurt anyone if some members don't post but I do understand your goal of promoting more active membership.

Other sites ie Ninjashoes.net have similar polices but they only limit access to certain areas like the video/media section until you have a certain number of posts. That way people can still lurk but there is an incentive for them to become more active.

So far everything seems ok. Personally, I see no reason to delete a person from a memberlist if they have 0 posts, or to delete their accounts because they’ve become inactive.
I’ve been a member of many sites where I’ve forgotten my sign in name and i check the memberlist to see what it was.

Its hard to get all members to be active, many lurk and read, especially if they’re not really familiar with the subject, we shouldn’t punish them. They’ve signed up, there’s a chance they may start posting.

Witchy, to unsubscribe to the site / forum posts go into your user cp, go to List Subscriptions and remove the ones you no longer want to be updated on.

Well duh, lol... I knew that part. However that just stops the emails you get and stuff showing up in the user control panel. I meant that there's no way (that I could find at least) to actually 'delete' your account. That's probably why there's so many users who haven't come back since sign-up... they just couldn't delete themselves so their names are still on the list.
Either way it doesn't bother me. I don't care who posts or how many times they do, or in this case don't.

I agree. It shouldn't matter how many post a person has in order to do anything on the forum. That's the point of regisering instead of being a guest. From what I can see 90% of the people who register just look at videos but sooner or later they will post just give them time.
