What does everybody think about having camps, where members can join a certain camp and compete through contest against other camps? Camps are groups of people with the same interest like grapplers camp or the Lion's Den or Team Punishment. This is how it would be set up, this is from another forum that I'm on, and it is very successful. Me or an admin would set up the camp forum, for only registered members.
1. Camp HQ
When a new clan is started, it must achieve a total of at least 6 active members within two weeks. If a clan succeeds in doing so, it must report to the Camp HQ and post the required information. Only the Camp Leader may post in this thread, unless notified before hand. There should be a list of all the Camps in this Thread.
2. Camp Council
Each clan that has a post in the Clan HQ must have a designated Representative to speak in the Council. The Council mostly determines Camp Contests and other such inter-camp activities. Only camp representatives and Mods can post in the camp council's thread. Breaking this rule will result in a warning.
3. Reporting Posts
if you want something done about a thread or post report it and use that funny text box to explain the situation. It makes our lives easier and your forums cleaner.
4. Starting New Camp Threads
Only clan members can start clan threads. Breaking this rule is a serious offense.
When a camp Member starts a new Camp thread, he must do 2 things
1. Post the URL to the new thread on the old one. Any posts after this URL in the old thread will be deleted.
2. Notify the Mods to archive the old thread. (In order to notify the moderators that a thread needs archived, please use the "Report Post" button as it will notify both of us automatically. Be sure to specifically say that it needs archiving in the report.)
3. Each Camp can have only one thread at any given time.
Not performing these 3 actions (especially the second one) may grant the new thread starter a warning.
5. Posting in Other Camp's Threads
if a camp asks you to cease posting on their thread, you CAN be warned for continuing to do so! However, this decision must be reached by a majority of that camp.
5a. Camp Recruitment
Attempting to recruit members away from other Camps by posting in those Camps' threads, unless you have been granted explicit and public permission by that Camp's leader to do so, is a warn able offense.
6. Camp Membership
Each person may not belong to more than one Camp. Breaking this Rule may bring consequences to that person and everyone else in the clan.
Many camps allow you to become a 'friend' of that clan. Please keep in mind that as you aren't an official member of the camp, you can be punished for aiding or hindering said clan with any of the Camp Contests.
This is not set in stone, changes can be made. We can make this a sub thread. Any suggestions or comments are welcomed.
personally i think it would escalate the fighting/arguing to a new level.
Lets take to camps u used as an example
Team Punishment and Lion Den, can you image how these people would argue?
I see it as bad, but thats just me...
Well you don't exactly argue with the other camps. You can't even post in another camp unless you have permission to do so. This is not a prominatory thing, just something to get groups of people together and talk.
I like the idea...but the threads things will mix people up at first I'm sure. Once everyone understands the basic premise of the concept - I'm sure it would be a hit. On the other board you're at with this KAM, does this make users who are friends lose contact somewhat? If you can tell...? It just seems like people would be split into quite a few different camps, then would lose touch with each other somewhat. You know what I mean?
Also, would we just be making teams that exist in the MMA world now? Like you said Lion's Den and TP...I like that idea - instead of a bunch of corny ass team names. Lastly, would users of each camp have a special marking on their profile/sig to facilitate where they're loyal to? Just curious. If we're going to do something like this though, we need to get the ball rolling and not just sit on it forever.
I'm not really sure what this is supposed to be for? What are these threads' topics supposed to be about? Is this how the whole site would be or just optional separate from the forum. What I mean is if someone were to join the site for the first time ever, would they be prompted to choose a clan before they are allowed to post? To me, it just sounds chaotic, and I don't understand what the point of having clans is? I agree with Steve-D, I think it will just create more potential animosity between members. Right now the only thing someone can be animus about is another person's opinion of a fighter. Having competing clans will just give people more reason to antagonize. This is just my opinion on it right now though, I'm still kinda unsure about what the point of it all is.
I dont wanna see this go through, got a bad feeling about it
Here is a link to the site that I'm also apart of. Instead of clans we will call them camps, unless you want to call them clans. The names of the clans are in [brackets], its there so people with the same interest can get together and know each other better, there should be no animosity between each clan unless you yourself start it. Everybody on that site are friends even though they are in different clans. I'm in the Forum Pirates but my friend in real life is a part of the Ghost Mafia, clans are just a backdrop to the site, not the main function.
I feel the exact same way. I'm saying no. Sorry Kameleon.
id give it the  yes it would escalte the argueing but that just makes things most interesting
