ancient threads....

Hi. I'm pretty new here so I understand that there might be something I don't understand but I just have a question/comment.

I was recently reprimanded by one of the moderator for replying to really old thread.

I really don't think there's anything wrong with it as long as 1)you have something new to say and 2) you don't abuse it.

What are your thoughts? I think it will be obvious if someone is bringing up the old thread just to annoy people but in my case I wasn't.

When it comes to stuff like this its proper to start a new thread with a link to the old thread for others to read.IMO

edit-GAWD a 3 year old thread!! your post brought nothing to the table in that thread and not worthy of creating a new one as i said above. Reprimand deserved.

I respectfully disagree. I mean people did actually talk about the topic on hand after I replied. I don't think it matters whether the topic is one day or three years old as long as people are discussing the topic in intelligent manner.

But I see what you are saying though.

Just because you talk off topic and subsequently other people bring it back on topic doesn't put you in the right.

I was all about coming in here and saying 'yeah man a new guy reviving old threads with a new perspective doesn't sound so bad' but then I read your revival.

Nothing personal against you, but that revival post and this thread weren't your best decisions.

I was initially off topic but I was planning on actually talking about stuff on topic before it was locked.

I believe we ARE allowed to respond topic in humorous way, which is what I did. I have seen people respond to the threads in the same manner.

I had no evil intention what so ever regarding what I did. If people weren't interested, it would naturally go away. And if no one responded, and I kept posting, then yes THAT would make it a wrong move.

I understand moderators have jobs but I stand by what I did.

In no intent to undermine the Mods authority, BUT does this forum have some sort of Term of use? or rules section? if so where are they so I can read them and apply the rules, last thing I want is to unwillingly brake a forum rule.

IF there is no clear cut and predetermined rules on this and other issues then it is kind of unfair to reprimand someone for bracking a rule they didnt even know existed.

HISTORY be in on the forum's or in life is a beautiful thing.

I ask with all due respect to the Admin and Moderators,
O

I'll ask my ex girlfriend about that one....

I apoligize about replying to an ancient thread..I just couldn't resist this one.
Umm... that doesn't really add to the discussion of an already dead thread at all. Please don't resuscitate it.

You must have not read the 5th post on this thread. It was the humor aspect of the thread. I have seen other people trying to be funny to lighten up the mood, which is what I did. Also couple of people DID add serious comment regarding the topic. So in that sense, it did some good.

Not to mention the fact that I was about to get into more serious discussion.

Like I said, I had no evil intention what so ever. If you didn't like the thread all you have to do is ignore it.

I closed it and reprimanded you (I never infracted just asked you to resist next time) I stand by it, judging by the response here others agree with me. You bumped and old thread taking up space on the first page (most users dont dig deeper than the first page maybe the second) for what a lame joke. For those that don't know he bumped a 3 year old "does size matter" thread to deliver a "my g/f thinks it does" joke, he even commented "I couldn't resist" which to me shows you knew it was doing nothing but annoying other users. I hate when anyone for any reason bumps a three year old thread never mind for something so trivial. Alot of people read a title and respond without realizing the age of the thread if you want a up to date "does size mater" thread to actually discuss the topic feel free to create one but if you just need to find a thread that works for the joke you just though up and need to use dont bother.
