MMA Forum Rep System...

I know the rep system is in place, but seriously, I would like a staff member to explain to me how someone with over 10k posts and mad rep can neg rep a person with 13 posts and not dent them.....I mean WTF do we have rep for, and how do people with 13 posts have enough rep to withstand a neg like that??? It's people setting up multiple accounts and repping themselves....in some cases, however at 13 posts they must be getting pos repped by some serious rep......where?? I think I ask this on behalf of several of the Senior members....our rep's essentially mean shit, this should be addressed, or just do away with rep....

Qualified answers only, serious question??

Might of been Repped by a Rep god or something if you want hit one of us up and we can check their rep for ya ...cant tell you who repped them but if some kind of funny buisness is happening we can take care of it

also moving this to feedback section

Yeah, we can better answer if you give us the actual name of the poster. A lot of the times these new members are getting repped hard early on for good posts, then it's hard to dent them if they turn out to post bad.

The thing is, as you said, our senior members have really high rep, so all it takes is one or two of them to hit him with a pos rep then bam, it takes a long time to get them back down, because you have to remember that neg reps impact far less than positive reps.

I think the rep system would be better served if every rep gave has the same credit and the better rep you have the more value you get out of rep, say Ironman wants to rep someone for a good post but the guy has only been here for a week the odds are he wont rep because its a risk.

Under a better system he could give that rep and not have to worry about making someone overpowered. Its as simple as using a tier system, the worse your rep is the more a neg rep would take out of your status and the same with +rep.

I know Ive passed up + rep'n a few people. Not that Im saying they would consider it here but if you made it extremely hard to go full red or green once someone goes full red they should be reviewed by a mod and banned. Full green should earn you a chance at a lighter mod status and the mods should have control over that as well.

Thing is all rep systems have flaws and thats why you can never just pick one and let it lose, just never works all that well.

I know the rep system has been something mods and admins have been trying to fine tune over the years and its probably a big pain in the butt.

I agree a tier system would be well, i just feel like i worked damn hard for 4 yrs to have someone with 13 posts be future HOF material....it seems absurd, I think at a min a neg rep should equal a pos rep, its not that hard to change the system and scripting...

It's a lot harder to change it than one would think CC.

This has been discussed many times in the staff section and we've been unable to find a reasonable solution. The problem with making all rep the same, even if an Admin would have time to do it, is that the vast majority of our members are green, with the vast majority of our paids fully green. It would not be fair that our new members must be subjected to the new rep rule, while our older members can be high up there with their rep.

To keep it fair and balanced, we'd have to reset everyone's rep, and from what I know, there's no "reset all rep" button. An admin would have go through and individually recalculate each person's rep.

There are ways to fix the problem, but you're talking about a substantial amount of work, work that only admins can do, so it won't be a whole staff helping, it'll just be 3 or so people.

Trust me, I've brought up rep changes multiple times in the staff section, a few of us have, but by the time the discussion is done, we've made no progress casue we have yet to find a reasonable, time worthy way of doing it.

Sounds like a good enough reason to do away with it completely. We don't need a little green bar below our name to tell others that we know what we're talking about, our posts should do that for themselves.

Def, I remember having discussions as well. Just hoped something may have changed and wish there were a tier system for newbies....13 post
and my neg does nothing just sucks......newbies should start without green rep rather red and work their way green......
