so XL should be alright for me? im quiet positive im a 32 waist.

you wear thai shorts just under your belly button. if they are still too long then you can roll it over once at the top. XXL is you if you are a 34 inch waist like you originally stated.

thanks so much for your help. the lady emailed me back and changed them to XL as they didnt have XXL in stock am I gonna be wearing a diaper here or what lol. also, can I just pull them down to below my belly button or is that uncomfortable? thanks for all the posts guys!

The lowest you'd want to wear them is like this:
(me and my trainer)

The shorts won't restrict your leg movement at all.

Any lower than that and it looks stupid.

also if you are looking to buy shorts online you should go to www.fightlab.net instead of TUFF, the TUFF stuff's quality isn't as good.
