I want to get a pair of UFC gloves for pounding on my heavy bag but I don't know what size I need. I think the last time I measured my palm it was 4 and half inches across.

Does anybody know what size hands go with what size gloves?

Small = 7" - 7.5"
Medium = 7.5" - 8"
Large = 8" - 8.5"
Xtra Large = 8.5" - UP

Measure the circumference at your knuckle in inches. Give or take about 1/4 ". Also, keep in mind that the leather will stretch a little once broken in. Depending on how you want the gloves to fit choose one size lower or higher.
