There's lots of different ways to wrap your hands but there are a few things to note. Make sure you wrap your thumb joint, and reinforce your wrist area a lot. If your wraps are long enough, wrap them inbetween your knuckles too. I really like how this site explains how to wrap your hands - http://www.ringside.com/WrapYourHands.aspx

Wrapping your wrists is so essential...wrist injuries are common and can be mostly avoided with proper wrapping technique.

Fighters I enjoy watching:
Fedor
Quinton "Rampage" Jackson
Martin Kampman
Jake Shields
Thiago Tavares
Urijah Faber

Joe Rogan NutHugger...and proud of it

I strongly prefer a wrap technique with both ribbons and fingers.

I start with 4 folds on the knuckles and a couple wraps around then go between the fingers returning around the index finger each time to create x's on the back of your hand. then twice around the wrist. then around the knuckles once more and wrap the remainder around the wrist.

I never wrap my thumb

I had a quick question, forgive my ignorance when should you have handwraps? Just in a fight situation, or just during training, or some mix of both situations?
