MMA Hygiene Gear

Any must have products for your hygiene if you do MMA?

Funny you should mention that...

I'm working on an article regarding general hygiene for MMA athletes and people who train BJJ. Spoke with an infectious disease doctor who said keeping your clothes clean, taking a shower after training, and using anti-bacterial stuff on your hands is the best possible solution.

I'll hit you up with a link to the article when it's published next week.

Sweet, I'm looking forward to reading it. I shower after training but I'm still paranoid about getting athletes foot or something.

Definitely keep your clothes clean. Also take good care of your mouth piece, I soak mine in Anti-septic (such as Listerine) for about 30 minutes before I put it away back in the plastic case (make sure you have a bag or something clean, safe to put your mouth guard in).

Athletes foot. I am not sure that you would be under a huge risk for getting it, especially if you are taking showers after training.

That's about it for me, but I am defnitely looking forward to this article. I carry around Anti-bacterial with me religiously (in and out of the gym, grocery stores, gas-stations, etc).

I have had MRSA before, and it was a real pain. I ended up testing a lot of products. The best product I found so far is by Athletic Body Care. They have a skin sanitizer and shower gel.

I just got a package of stuff from Defense Soap which I am also going to give a shot, including the body wipes. I will have a review about them at some point.

Here is a review I did about Athletic Body Care

and also an article on Staph Prevention.

Hope that helps.

Getting ringworm seems inevitable. No matter how clean you keep yourself and your stuff, there is always someone who doesnt.
