My buddy did the same just not as severe and he only had to get 2 pins. I'm not sure how long it took before the pins came out but I remember they started to itch and bother him. After that is all done I highly recommend doing the physical therapy. He is a guitar player so that helped him alot once he could play. Also try not to use it while the pins are in. If you take creatine is will help keep your muscles and tendons from weakening as much. There is an article in Men's Health about it.
